So the lesson is, for my international flight coming up, don't fly United?

Thanks. biggrin

Fly United at your own risk. I certainly won't!

By the way, this experience embodies the feeling I get about the month of March. I've always hated March- I'm always so stir crazy from all of the long, dreary months of winter that I get super depressed and feel at my wit's end.

I don't know if I agree with you. I mean yes in an ideal fantasy world everything would be perfectly fair but is the airline supposed to measure people to see who the tallest 6 people are? Also, by this rationale shouldn't fatter people be allowed to sit in first class since the seats are wider?

I would think if it were important to taller people then they could pay the $15 fee.

I suppose it is a bit idealistic, but the money I pay for an economy seat does not get me the same value as the equal amount of money a shorter person would pay for an economy seat. Most people can at least sit straight forward in an economy seat. I have to angle my knees at 45 degrees just to fit them in. I don't know what the solution is, but I know that it really irks me to see people 5'4" and below in exit rows when I've pleaded for one and can't get one. pissed

I understand your frustration Ian ~ carry it through to the other end of the spectrum. At 5 feet tall (or short) it really is terrible when I pay, say, $120.00 (the same as everyone else) to see Prince and get stuck in the 10th or 12th row behind the Renner Brothers!!!! lol. You get the idea ~ my sister and I could barely get of glimpse of David Bowie because the guys in front of us were all well over six feet. I've always felt , in the ideal world, seating should be arranged by height ~ it's great when the venue has those gently sloping seats. Well, until everyone is standing and going crazy. You can have my aisle seat and I'll take your front row!!!!!

I travel by plane once a month.
It amazes me how little help airline/airport staff are about anything.
Also, how any phone #s for assistance are just a recording telling you that no
one is available to assist you so try this #, which is just another automated message telling you to call the first # you dialed.

That is bullshit. Exit row seating should be reserved for taller passengers as they need more legroom. I can't even sit straight in the regular economy class.

Typically, exit row seats are considered premium seating that is reserved for their frequent flyers. Also, you are responsible for all the procedures that go with sitting near the emergency exit. I work within and around the industry and I haven't heard of the charge that you read about. But I am going to look into it. I wouldn't be surprised if they do start to charge.

I was offered a seat with more legroom (a exit seat) in London through United for 40p
