Death

My partner's father died today. The last 2 weeks have been a very emotional time. Although my bf was not particualrly close to his father, it is interesting how death can affect your life. I talked with my Mother this evening and she told me of a time when my Grandfather passed away on my Dad's side. A very stressfull time for my Mother, she felt she had to be very strong for those around her. It wasn't until afterwards, when she remembers someone gave her a hug, and asked her how she was? She broke down in tears.
People respond to death in many different ways, and I do not have a lot of experience with it. I really thought that this wouldn't bother me, but there is a sadness that has reared it's ugly head, and everyone around me is sympathetic, and concerned. I find myself questioning my own mortality, appreciating relationships, amazed with how truly phenomenal life is.

death is a part of life sad
I had never (and still really haven't) experienced it close up first hand. A workmate's boyfriend died and my own mortality hit me like a ton of bricks. I cried for days even though I'd never met this guy, but my empathy for my workmate went deeper than I expected.
Hugs go a long way, and let your partner grieve (he will grieve the fact they weren't so close too probably), even long after you think he should have got over it.
