He looked like a lot of fun. Is he still living? Or do you miss him because you live far apart?

Moderator | Shit ... (snif, snif) Now you have me thinking of my dad! I sure miss him lately now that I'm a "daddy" myself.
That is REALLY cool you have some photos like that. My dad always ducked around the corner when my mom brought the camera out and was almost NEVER in any of those J.C. Penny type family photos. You got me wanting to go dig through some old boxes when I get home. This June, we should do a father's day type photo thread! Seriously. All Rights Reserved. |

I have the "classic winter" photo for you but it ain't too pretty. It's of a 4 year old me after my eye-lid had to be sewn back on. My dad finally talked me into getting on the sled and he was going to push me down the hill. "Oh how fun" ... NOT! Not really thinking it through my dad forgot about the barb-wire fence at the foot of the hill (I grew up in east Tennessee = big ass steap hills) and being scared half stiff seeing it coming, instead of jumping off the sled, I leaned all the way back and turned my head to the side. A barb caught my eye lid and about riped it off. Blood everywhere. Kinda freaky when there was so much snow around. I think my dad cried more than I did, thinking he blinded his son. My face was covered red and it was "geling" because of the cold. You really couldn't tell how bad it was until we got to the hospital and they cleaned me off. 6 stiches and I was all good. Hardley a scar these days. Needless to say me and dad didn't do much winter activites after that. We used to joke about all those times we had those little "accedents". I swear I was a magnet for getting stiches growing up. Always being rushed to the hospital. All Rights Reserved. |
