I have no life man, what are you TALKING about?! whofarted

I've been back for about a month now actually. hmmm And who's Jack? hmm Your twin that your body half-cannibalized in the womb?

sad Jeff I am sorry. Especially since stress leave had not been invented yet in the late 1970s. I was only 8 but I should have known better.

the only problem if, what if you happen to know - because they told you - that they have problems with depression/mental illness? what then? how much slack do you cut someone like that? are they accountable for their own actions? when they're out of line do they merit a smackdown or a trip to the hosiptal?

Believe me, the nasty people that I encounter in my life do not have depression or mental illness. The nasty/rudeness is just part of their personality. Of course, if a person were to tell me that they had depression/mental illness I would cut them some slack and nicely tell them that professional help was available, and that they should seek it. I would NEVER smackdown or strike someone with mental illness, shoot, I wouldn't even smack or strike a SANE person. I'm too damn nice for that, nice to a fault. lol

Co-sign!

IMO, there are two kinds of folks in this world - those who take sh!t, and those who don't.

This is a cold world - all that PC love-your-enemy, turn the other cheek B.S. will get you stepped on.

but seriously, mentally ill people are just as capable of being nasty as anyone else. should we automatically tolerate their crap just because they have a health condition? i'm not talking about striking someone or shouting, but more like confronting them and refusing to allow them to get away with bad behavior.

Just rude, making nasty comments without thinking. Gotta think that they must have something wrong in the noggin to make them that way. Or that their own personal lives are so fucked up that it makes them miserable, so they, in turn, want to make others miserable in order to make themselves feel better. Can't understand it, since I would not even think of treating somebody that way, but other people seem to get a sick sense of satisfaction from it. Some people need a slap in the face to wake them up and realize that that attitude is not the one to have. disbelief

Do you honestly believe that you could ever possibly be insensitive to another person, unwittingly? I mean, unless someone knows you well and is sadistic, they can't possibly know all your sensitive buttons...

I've just observed a tendency in some people - even some family members - to be always sensitive and easily offended/hurt... while at the same time, being utterly unsensitive to everyone around them. Have to recognize that people do this completely unconsciously. I think everyone does this to another person, at some time or another.

That's why it's best, IMHO, to take the high road and just forgive and forget. I get mad, but I get over it fast, because I just don't have the time, energy or patience necessary in the matter of holding a grudge. I leave that to greater mortals than I. smile

On this subject, the ideal to me is that the nonsense people stay away from me in the first place... that they seek other victims. smile In other words, not having to stand up to them because they avoid me, period.
