So I went to my old park this weekend.... (my weekend blog thread) Allow me to make this thread my own weekend blog as it were...I was bored this weekend (girlfriend and baby at their grandparents) so I ran some errands and decided to go check out my old stomping grounds where I used to play BB ball. I played at this park for about 7 years....It helped me raise my game up from when I played in high school...Had lots of battles there...lost a lot of blood and broke/injured myself there many times. I left it years ago cause of the crabass competition (or I just got better and bored) but I didn't figure I would miss it. Suprisingly after 3 years of not being there it felt like I was coming home....I saw lots of the same folks I played with...a lot of the old ballers were there still doing their thang...It was crazy....I can't describe that feeling I got. I felt like being there filled something I didn't know was missing....
And the more I chatted with old friends/foes I felt better...this feeling of family and being home. I didn't stay long cause the new people that played there were awful to watch, but as I left I pondered why I was feeling this way...I hated this park after a while....I then realized it's not the park I missed...It's the camaraderie I missed...the sense of family we kinda had there...Even though it was constant competition and not everyone liked each other we "respected" each other as men and as players. I didn't realize how much it meant to me until I was reintroduced to it. I never had a "real" family connection...I pretty much disowned my real family....but my hoop family at various parks and tournements was what filled that hole. I quit playing for good a year and a half ago....The reasons for my quitting im not proud of, but what's done is done I suppose....Visiting did make me want to get back into it...but the reason I quit in the first place is still there...I wish I could find something outside of hoop that has that same feeling of belonging. I must say it was a pretty spectacular feeling...I wasn't expecting something like that.... And on a side note while there I forgot how much I missed the trash talking (my specialty  ) after being reffered too as "pretty boy" and comments about how much bigger I got I ran out of smartass remarks...Im soooo rusty  All in all it was a really good experience...thought I would share...clever clever quotation - attention getting quote - sad yet witty remark - look at me!
