My dog tried to attack me!!!

I was sitting in the living room watching a program and I heard a bumping sound coming from the other room. I've grown accustomed to questioning those kinds of sounds and sure enough when I went into the bedroom, my uncle was having a seizure. Actually he was in the last of it and after he has a seizure he goes into this trance like state where even his eyes will be open but he is breathing like he's in a deep sleep.

My dog was up on the bed with him and I went to get a rag so I could wipe the foam from his mouth so he wouldn't choke on it. And when I approached him to wipe off his face, my dog tried to attack me!! I realized that he was only trying to be protective of him because he sensed something was wrong.

I could only hope that my dog would react that way if I was in trouble lol

And this was your dog not his? I don't know, sounds like a little talk with the vet is in order. Possibly behavioral modification.

Yeah it was my dog. Actually there is a reason for such behavior nod My sister and her kids moved in with my mom a few years ago and the kids tortured this dog all day and all night. They are very destructive children and so they just picked on him and teased him and taunted him until he becme nearly rabid in their presence. But he usually does not act that way with me. I know for sure that it was because of my uncle's seizure because my mom has seen him being protective of him after a seizure a few times before.

Sorry to hear that the dog has had his nerves plucked to the last. But I would still talk to the vet. Would hate for a very serious situation with your uncle to arise and the dog becoming a factor in him not receiving emergency attention, especially from the family.

He's OK. He suffered from seizured for many years now. We just try and help him through it, although there isn't much you can do other than try and clear his way so he doesn't hurt himself too bad and get the spit and stuff that comes out afterward sigh

My dog has gone nuts at me before when I've come home from work early. He must think I'm someone else then and is protecting the rest of the family.

Wow. hug

Closest I came to an animal attack is when I had a cat go siezure on me once. She was sitting on my lap and then started to twitch and before I knew it she lock-jawed onto my wrist and kicked and thrashed until it was over and then she finally let go. I didn't need stitches but I got a tetanus shot anyway. Turns out she'd developed kitty epilepsy.. shrug who knew?

When I was 10, I was attacked by my then brother-in-law's hunting dog. Unknown to me, he had been 'training' it to become a better hunting dog by beating it. I walked over to it carrying a stick to play fetch with and it went nuts.

I ended up having to get reconstructive surgery, and to this day I will not go near a cocker spaniel if I can help it.

Yup...my dad did nod

I dunno exactly what happened, but I do know the dog was taken away and shortly after that my sister filed for divorce. I think I've only seen the guy once since that time.

I have cat claw scars on my upper thigh from when I had to worm my cat and she slipped down between me and the table I was holding her on, and she tried to stop her fall by digging her claws into my leg - yowee! But she died years ago, and I think of her everytime I see my scar mushy

mushy
I know the feeling. I have a scar above my eye from where my childhood cat scratched me when I was three. My mother had this cat from before I was born and she passed away when I was eleven. I think of her when I look at my scar, too. she was a good cat.
