I guess you all have heard about the controversy concerning the book "A million little pieces" by James Frey.
I haven`t read it yet, but i ordered it on amazon two days ago, and i`m looking forward to read his "story".
I saw the Oprah interview on a website, and personally, i think she was a little harsh on him,
the point is that people love the book,
and think it`s a great and inspiring story. What do you all think?

i read the book when it first came out. i liked it and i think it can do good things for people. i also like how he writes. screw oprah.

Exactly I do like Oprah, but i think most people would agree that her attack on him was unnescessary.

I watched that show and it was horrible, how she attacked him. She basically did it as a CYA from being sued. If his book helps other people, all the power to him.

her approach completely dismissed anything resembling a literary viewpoint, but i guess that's not a viewpoint that brings in ratings.

Yeah, it seemed like she was afraid of losing credibility in a way, cause it shouldn`t matter to her whether the story is true or fictional if she loved the story as much as she said she did when she presented it earlier.

i think the book's capacity to help people depended in part upon their belief in it as being 'true'. too bad that's tarnished now
imo the author shoulmd have been a bit more upfront about the creative license he'd taken with underlying facts

The housewives are kinda entertaining, the way they scream and go crazy like teenagers whenever she Oprah talks, even if they don`t know what she`s talking about.

Exactly!! Lets not blame Oprah. I read the book and it was good, but once I learned that much of it was lies and fabrication, I lost respect for it and the author. Frey and his publisher should never have marketed the book as non-fiction because much of it was made up and over-dramatized.

Oprah's such a phoney..but here audience scares me the most. The way they blindly follow whatever she says is a tad bit disturbing. If the book helps people a little fudging doesn't matter. The Daily Show and Conan gave oustanding satirical takes on that bull...u can view them below.
