Yeah, I go through periods of great excitement and utter dispair about it. But mostly excitement.

cool I dropped out after two semesters and didn't go back for years and years. I didn't get my BA until I was 28. I think dropping out was the best move for me. When I first went, I did really appreciate it. But when I went back, I wanted to be there and it made all the difference.

B.A. in Theatre Arts: Dance Option. I was a double major until the last semester. I ran out of funds and financial aid, so I just stuck with dance. My other major was psychology. Too bad I work for the government now. lol

BA in Literature with a concentration on creative writing! I also got a minor in film and digital media. It would have been a double major but I spent my third year studying abroad and they only allowed four classes to transfer over.

I don't see any more school for me in the future, though maybe I will get my MFA eventually.

I feel the same way, especially considering my student loan balance and the fact that I've already got two degrees. But ironically, if I never had to work again (e.g., if I won the lottery), I could easily see myself spending the rest of my life as a permanent part-time student. Maybe I'd go for a Ph.D... as I posted in another thread, I have an idea for a dissertation about methaqualone (Quaaludes). smile

Mine was more like on the job training...but I think it might not be so important in Australia to go to college...in fact most people I know in good jobs didn't ...and the ones that did are still paying off college debt in there late 20's ..early 30's .... I chose not to be one of those shrug

In retrospect, perhaps I shouldn't have gone to college immediately after high school graduation (1995). Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if I'd moved out to the West Coast then and joined a dot.com instead. (Possible outcome: I might have become a millionaire on paper, but lost it all because I got too greedy and didn't sell out before the dot.bomb crash.)

But anyway, I did go to college straight out of high school, and while I still managed to graduate with a respectable GPA from a respected university, I didn't put much effort into it and didn't get much out of it. In fact, I don't even remember much about my undergrad years. boxed

I then took a year off between college and law school, which was probably one of the best things I ever did for myself. After finding out just how unmarketable my B.A. in political science was, I enrolled in law school and put a lot of hard work into it. (I suppose I was also motivated by having to pay for my J.D. -- the deal I always had with my parents was that they'd pay for my undergraduate education, but I'd have to pay for any graduate work.) And my efforts paid off, as I did very well in law school.

On a few occasions, I've met people who've been out of high school for a few years or so, and are upset because they haven't gone to college or have dropped out. And while I understand why they feel that way, I try to reassure them that there's nothing wrong with taking some time off, and in the long run, they'll probably be better off because of it.

Master in "Germanic languages"

I studied Dutch and English in a very theoretical way: literature and linguistics. Sometimes I pity the fact I know very much about literature and the structure of the English language, but I can't speak it as fluently as I wish.

I also got an extra degree to teach.

cool When I dropped out, my parents cut me off financially, so when I went back to get my undergrad degree and JD, it was on my dime. Your right, debt is a motivating factor. nod I had to grow up some to make the most out of a higher education. Had I stayed in college out of high school, I would have skated, at best.
