I think you're a bit cautious at first, waiting for the other person to impress you with wittiness or amusing stories. Then if they pass the test you open up more and start to share your skewed opinions about the world. You also joke, but only when you think it's a really good one. And the more comfortable you get, the more direct you get, and ask a lot of personal questions and share personal information about yourself.

Actually, the Swedes I do business with hardly have an accent (Swedes are very good in English, just like the Dutch) but tend to be more introverted and quiet.....(again, I'm not on retina's 'case' )

Preparing for the worst... [Edited 1/29/06 17:18pm] You have a strong Swedish accent, talk very quickly and high pitched. When you get annoyed your voice gets higher and squeakier. You're wrong about the accent. I've actually been mistaken for a native speaker on a number of occasions. The accent pops up every now and then though, like when I pronounce the "j"s at the beginning of words as the "y" in "your" in instead of the abrupt "dj" sound. I do speak quickly when I get excited but otherwise it's relatively slow, I think. And it's definitely not high-pitched. More low and monotonous. I like to talk and usually talk quite a lot, so my steady voice could put you to sleep if you're not interested in what I'm saying. .

retina said: lilmissmissy - High-pitched and kind of squeaky voice that somehow works great for singing but that can be a bit annoying when she speaks. Giggles a lot and jokes and talks about this and that which leads her onto this and that and did I mentionwhattheneighboursaidyesterdayohyoushouldhaveheard... Bubbly and happy. you're way off on that. she has a very strong voice, similar to a news woman, but with an english accent and a couple splashes of sensuality, though she's from Oz. i could listen to her all day. you're pretty much on point with the rest.

I don't want to sound like a prick by opposing your only negative remark, but I actually am quite tolerant of ramblings. At least if they're caused by joy and spontaneity. Since I usually don't speak like that myself I love it when somebody else brings it into the conversation.
