Me too. I liked Batman Begins (you gotta watch more than the first few minutes, damnit!), Sin City and Match Point this year.

The most memorable movies of 2005 for me are probably only "Capote" and "March Of the Penguins". Can't think of anything else that stuck out to me. I was dissapointed by most movies I saw this year (for example, I found "Crash" to be slightly forced). After reading this thread, though, I see a lot of movies I really want to catch on DVD soon (on top of the list is "Broken Flowers".

I did not see 10 movies that were new, just old ones. I like action sci-fi, so I liked The Island, SW:Sith, Stealth, Batman, etc. Saw the Machinist and it was not too bad. Sin City was so-so. I think I saw Spiderman 2 last year and liked it. Also saw Crash, War of the Worlds, can't think of much else.

1. Munich
2. Match Point 3. Brokeback Mountain 4. Capote 5. Upside of Anger 6. Grizzly Man 7. King Kong 8. Syriana 9. Constant Gardener 10. Yes or Crash I've yet to see The New World or Junebug, so my list may change after that. It was a fantastic year for movies, so if you ask me tomorrow, my list would change! Most overly-praised turd of the year - Sin City Great performances: Actor: Philip Seymour Hoffman - Capote Actress: Felicity Huffman - Transamerica Supporting Actor: Terrence Howard - Crash Supporting Actress: Michelle Williams - Brokeback Mountain

My Robert Downey Jr fetish emerged from that movie. It's fucking brilliant. I know it flopped stateside but it was nothing but 5 star accolades over here, and rightly so

I don't think it flopped critically...I think Ebert and Roeper both liked it. I mean, good luck trying to get people to see an independent movie unless it's not that artsy or is nominated for lots of awards. I just looked on Boxofficemojo and it did make more internationally ($10 million Vs. $4 million). It probably did well here for a movie with a very limited run, though.
