I don't know about the ghetto but when I see ANY grown ass man on somekind of bicycle riding around in the middle of the day, I automatically think he's on PROBATION or PAROLE.

I just had to laugh when I saw the title of this thread...cuz I used to ask myself the same gaht damn question!!!

here I saw grown men riding those monkey bikes (49cc motorbikes) to work after losing their licence drink driving. Then they outlawed them on the road, so I suppose they ride BMXs again.

Let's see...

Bikes in economically depressed areas ...

.. driven by a demographic old enough to be driving automobiles...

... hmmm, just what could that reason be?

Man I've seen them in the ghetto and outside of it. I was on the crosstown bus in lower Manhattan last week and this dude, looking like he was in his 30's, was riding across the street in a bike for a 10 year old. I just did this .

When Jerome is 45 and riding a bike, the assumption is that he's squandered his resources -- not that he's saving his resources for other, positive things.

I've seen grown men ride small pink bikes. I remember the small motorcycles.

Maybe he's just POOR and riding his only means of transportation, and the little, insufficient-paying job he does have ended an hour or so ago.

Does that make them bad -- or, even -- worthy of our derision and ridicule, just because we're wealthy enough to chat at the Org in our free time?

is there a big price descrepancy between a child's bike and a used adult bike? it really isn't that expensive to be a used adult bike so if these men are riding bikes because other modes of transportation are too expensive, why are they riding the baby bikes and not one that's made for someone their size? no one is saying that they need to be riding the lastest model ten speed but a child's bike? it seems a bit like a fashion statement.

i mean, i've seen these guys riding really teeny bikes. they can probably walk faster than they can ride those bikes.
