is it time to take charge of our own medical needs ?

today has been a looooong day sigh

but heres the question....

in this day and age, do you think that all of our medical decisions should be left up to doctors ?? or do you think with all of the available means of information we should become more proactive with our own health care needs ??

hmmm

IMO it should work both ways, if you have a doctor you trust and believe in, you should allow them to guide you through things that you dont know about.... but one the other side, if a doctor is dragging his/her feet as to what to do for you and they are making things more difficult for you, i think you should have the right to direct your future and have a say in what is best for you.....

have any thoughts ?

Overall the patient is responsible for their own health care. These days, the patient that blindly follows his/her doctor's advice is headed for trouble.

It is a partnership. nod

disbelief

My parents have a friend with diabetes who has chucked in traditional medicine and lets his wife do homeopathic remedies on him - even though she has NO training in it whatsoever. I think he's going blind now sad

And it's always good to get a second opinion. Or find another doctor that is genuine.

Anxiety

medical care in america in this day and age is as fucked up as it's ever been. if anyone thinks we've come a long way since the age of leeches and bloodletting, i'd advise them to think again.
