Think of a number from 1 to 10

Multiply that number by 9

If the number is a 2-digit number, add the digits together

Now subtract 5

Determine which letter in the alphabet corresponds to the number you ended up with

(example: 1=a, 2=b, 3=c, etc.)

Think of a country that starts with that letter.

Remember the last letter of the name of that country.

Think of the name of an animal that starts with that letter.

Remember the last letter in the name of that animal.

I told you this was FREAKY!! If not, you're among the 2% of the population whose minds are different enough to think of something else. 98% of people will answer with kangaroos in Denmark when given this exercise.

There is a math trick involved in this that I use on my classes all the time.

Should I give it away?

And I can't think of a fruit that starts with "x" to go with my Ibex from Djibouti.

This was kinda making me nuts, so I started to think about it and the questions kinda make you choose the answers.... lemme explain....

No matter how you slice it....everyone will end up at d=4...you can't avoid it..... so now that leads us to finding a nation in the world that starts with the letter "D".... how many nations start with D? I can't think of any other nation that starts with D.... There are only 4:

Denmark
Djibouti
Dominica
Dominican Republic

How many people here have even heard of any of the other three except for the Domican Republic.... Not me...

So most of us would be left to think of an animal that starts with "k"....

Well again...how many animals start with a K off the top of your heads....

The last few steps are the same....obviously I thought too much about this.... I hope I didn't ruin the "majic" for anybody.....

You are forced to D because any number you think of that is multiplied by 9 is such that the sum of the digits is divisible by 9. When told to pick a number between 1 and 10, all possibilities have digits that add to 9. Subtracting 5 will always give 4, thus forcing the letter D.
