I love it. It's a modern day fairy tale. Very touching, and surprisingly funny.

My favourite scene is when Edward is walking through the house alone, and then is doing those ice sculptures, making it snow (set to that wonderful Elfman theme). That's so magical.

I love this movie, always have. My favorite scene is when Winona Ryder`s character is dancing in the "snow", it`s like you said, MAGICAL.
The movie is sad in many ways, but it has it`s fun moments, Kathy Baker is hilarious giggle

I also love this film. Tin Burton is a true movie visionary with uncommon insights into hearts in torment. Kim is initially disgusted at the notion of touching Edward. "Picture the damage he could do other places," says one of her friends. But Kim comes to cherish Edward for his imagination and devotion. He creates ice sculptures while she dances in the flakes to Danny Elfman's haunting score. What I like about the film is that it could be potentially sappy but there is a real potent intimacy between the leads. A testament to Johnny Depp's and Winona Ryder's skills as actors. Later, when Kim reaches out to Edward, he pulls back his sharp, cold hands in despair until she tenderly wraps her arms around his chest. The memory of that moment really touches me. Edward Scissorhands isn't perfect. It's something better: pure magic.

I also like how Burton pokes fun at middle class America, and contrasts Edward's outward "ugliness" as a deformed person with their inner ugliness as shallow, selfish people.

Silly comment. He didn't direct The Nightmare Before Christmas or From Hell.

Big Fish was a recent film and wasn't gothic, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory wasn't as gothic as his other films, either.
