Prince Rupert's Drops



Has anyone ever heard of these? It's these teardrop or sperm-shaped bits of tempered molten glass that explode when you snap off their tails, though apparently you can hit the bulbous end with a hammer and they won't break.

They are mentioned in a book I'm reading, Oscar and Lucinda.

The description seemed so strange I thought they were made up.

But I went a'Googlin' and sure enough they are real.

Jasmine, it's a liquid used to settle a babies stomach from wind etc and contains alcohol.
