It's pretty much the bottom of the bank chain. Though working at a bank is good. I do. And have been a teller int he past. I prefer the office side of things if there is that side. I find the teller thing, I dunno, more hassle than it's worth. And working with other tellers has it's moments. But you know, it's all about the line managers that watch over everything on the teller line. See, they aren't Personal Bankers...nor are they important, but they have Authority. If you get a mean one, then it's gonna suck. If you get a cool one, then you are all good.

DOn't talk while working or keep it to a min. Dress clean and nice. Be ON TIME. Keep bathroom breaks to a min. Keep an eye on your money!!! Best place to go is to the personal banker side of things and away from the line. nod and then, if in a bigger bank...move along that route and if you get certified move towards the financial consultant.

good luck.

I've never been a bank teller, but I do my banking at U.S. Bank, and I've always been pleased with them. The folks at the branch across the street from my office seem happy and are very nice. I remember that when I applied for a line of a credit, the banker I worked with personally hand-delivered the final paperwork to my office for my signature. Now that's service.

I used to be a teller and then moved up to cust service for Wells Fargo. Let me just say this...Don't stay too long in banking if you really want to make money. They don't pay hardly anything and work you like a dog. Get into the wireless industry if you want to get paid

I really enjoyed my time as a teller more than any other job I've had. It was fun

Everything he said is true. I was a teller from '82 to early '85, and my cash balanced about 97% of the time. Most important thing is to cover your ass. Write down everything you did(including transfers & cash breakdowns) on the back of each slip. When it's slow, count your cash to make sure it balances and write down the time. If you balance at 3pm, but not at closing time, it'll be easier to find where you messed up.

Don't blab - do the transaction, wish the customer a nice day, and move on. Folks on line don't want to hear you socialize. The chances of making a mistake are greater if you're running your mouth and not paying attention. Socialize at lunch.

I think it's better to take a vocational course to make some decent money, then you can work at that job on a limited basis while you're in school for a career you'll love. All these jobs don't usually amount to much in terms of money and personal satisfaction. You'll always need a degree. thumbs up!

To make the best money, it certainly helps.

It's about more than money, though. I feel a degree will always be the gateway to the most satisfying jobs. Then again, I'm studying to be a clinical psychologst, so I'm biased.
