My neighbor, I asked her and her husband if they like Indian food. She says, we never tried it. I love Indian food. The hotter and spicier the better. If it doesn't make you shit fire, then send it back. I also love the curry and cilantro they like to use in so many dishes. I said, do you like mexican food, she says they never tried it.
Mexican is my absolute favorite and has been since I was a child. I love a big beefy Mexican enchilada. ....oh, I forgot we were talking about food. Anyway, Mexican food is still my favorite. I asked, how about chinese food? .. she says "We never tried it"
I love Chinese food also. What pisses me off though is that as more and more people started trying Chinese food in my area in the 1980s and 1990s, the Chinese restaurants started "Americanizing" their food to cater to people's tastes that don't know shit about Chinese food. The only thing a lot of these people order, when they don't go to a buffet, is shrimp fried rice. Hell, that's amateur stuff. I had seen it all when I saw macaroni and cheese on the buffet at one of these restaurants. I said "this is not the place for me" and got up and left before the waitress even brought the menu. and proceeded to tell me how she only eats and LOVEs potato's, steak, chicky, meatloaf and etc etc. The BORING food.
Dull, dull, dull. Being from the South, I will admit that we are the only ones that can cook some good mustard greens, string beans, and stuff like that because we can season the hell out of them with bacon grease, ham hocks, and other types of pork. I will give us that much. My sister moved up north and everyone up there thinks she can cook but all of us down here think she is a horrible cook because we are used to better. As far as foreign foods though, I love to explore and prefer them over the usual foods in my area. Unfortunately though, once something catches on down here, the cooks at these restaurants change the food up to suit the tastes of the people in the area. I also love Thai food but if it ever catches on down here, it will be ruined. Andy is a four letter word.

Some people live their lives in a bubble and are afraid to experiment.
Others love to get out there and try new experiences. I don't think it means one group is wrong and the other is right; there are shepherds and there are sheep and the world needs the right mix of each in order to function properly.

I really have difficulties with people who don't want to try something new, especially when talking about food.
I was taught to try anything and I like almost anything, except for liver, kidneys and shrimps when they swim in a puddle of mayonnaise. If I ever get children, I hope they will try food and not be picky. This is one of the mosrt annoying characteristics of little children, or their parents, whatever. The kid of a very good friend never likes anything we prepare. She only likes French fries, pizza and sweets. I like her a lot, but when eating I can't stop thinking 'spoiled little brat'.

I have one who loves to try anything new because it might be his new favourite (a lovely way to think of it!) and the other will not eat anything with green bits in it, and to think I raised them both the same!!
