What are you doing to get your feast on?

Holiday Dinner??? Where you going or who to come over to your house to eat?

What's on the menu?

What you going to do with the left overs?

"Do they know it's christmas time at all>?"

Reincarnate

My parents, sister and niece are coming over to join us.

We'll have turkey for the meat eaters (a meat substitute or Quorn sausages for me and my niece) with brussels sprouts, carrots, possibly swede, roast parsnips, potatoes and onions and Christmas Pudding afterwards. I think I'm also going to make my sky-high yorkshire puddings (I'm good at those) and Paxo sage and onion stuffing.

Leftover turkey will be used for turkey sandwiches on Christmas Day night and leftover veg will be turned into Bubble and Squeak on Boxing Day.

There will be three dogs, who will also take care of the turkey.

ahhhh Christmas woot!

my hubby is doing it.

I would lightly saute the shrimp in garlic and olive oil and then wrap it in bacon, put a toothpick through it and put in in a basket on the grill.

I don't have my children this Christmas, so to keep from getting depressed, I will be hanging with my friends getting drunk all day long.

biggrin candy ...

Divinity

½ cup light corn syrup
2 ½ cups sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup water
2 egg whites
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup coarsely chopped nuts

In saucepan mix corn syrup, sugar, salt, and water. Cook, stirring, until sugar is dissolved. Continue cooking, without stirring, until 248 degrees registers on candy thermometer or a small amount of mixture dropped into very cold water forms a firm ball (this means it is firm when in the water but flattens when removed from water).

Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Pour about half of the syrup over the egg whites slowly, beating constantly. Cook remainder unti 272 degrees (F) registers on candy thermometer, or until a small amount of the mixture when dropped in very cold water forms hard but not brittle threads. Add slowly to the first mixture and beat until mixture holds its shape. Add vanilla and nuts and drop by spoonfuls onto wax paper to form small candies. Makes 1 & 1/2 pounds of candy

It kind of sounds like an Italian candy called Terrone, but you'd make it with honey instead of corn syrup. We eat it at Christmas time. It's yummy! drool

I don't celebrate it either. I just like to be around people on "that day" because that's what I've become accustomed to growing up. Bring your ass over here. I have porn and food. That's a damn party. OH! And alcohol.

On Xmas eve I will be going to my parent's house and my brother and his family will be there. My mom will likely make a buffet of finger foods, veggies and fruit, small sandwiches, shrimp cocktail, meatballs of some kind, dips, crackers and cheese, cookies, candies and the like. She always goes way overboard, but that's a mom for ya. I will be spending the night and the next day it will be just my mom and dad and I and we've made a tradition of having steak and crab legs together (just the 3 of us) every Xmas. That's right folks, I actually eat steak once a year.
I'm looking forward to it, actually. smile
