Are straight women killing the planet?

I was having a conversation with a friend of mine this weekend and he posited that heterosexual women are fucking-up the world by preferring to mate and/or reproduce with alpha-males, regardless of their levels of sensitivity and/or intelligence (incidentally, he paid me a backhanded compliment by basically suggesting I am an intelligent, sensitive, overly-aggressive male lol).

So, how 'bout it?: Are straight girls taking us all to hell in a handbasket? hmmm

What a beautiful photo. barf

Women have been known for their questionable choices in men when it comes to who they choose to be the father of their kids. Just watch any Maury Povich episode. Women need to be more careful with choices like this.

It is an excellent thread, marred only by the presence of one very snooty-looking llama, thank you.

It's been my experience that men are the ones who do the choosing.

Then you need to make some changes in your relationships. Don't be a romance novel woman.

Well, my definition of an "alpha male" is a strong male that can lead a group and protect the female. Back in the stone age that position might have been held by the old louder-is-better-and-testosterone-pumping-pick-a-fight-with-anyone-unpredictable/dangerous types, but these days i think different qualities are required to fit the definition, and among those are definitely intelligence and sensitivity. Some women still think it's the former type that is the alpha male though, which usually leads to suffering down the road for them since these men often are abusive, unpredictable and unloyal. Therefore the real problem isn't really the fact that some women go for alpha males - that is natural and understandable - but that there is a misunderstanding of who the alpha males are today.

Do they? Is it not the female who ultimately chooses who she reproduces with? And what about the females (and there are many) who do the choosing re: mates? hmmm

I agree. I guess what my buddy is bitching about is that he feels women still fall for the old archetype.

But this 2005. Not the caveman years. Any woman who is looking for a man to "protect her and lead the group." is living in a dream world. Reality Check time.

Most children are born in wedlock and most marriages happen because the men have done the asking.

See? Told you. Proves my point again. When are woemn going to take charge of their lives?

No man forces you to have sex and no man forces you to get married.

So if someone asks you to marry him you automatically say yes? lol

Of course women decide for themselves who they are going to marry, spend their lives with, have kids with etc etc etc. It doesn't matter who happens to do the asking; both parties have to agree for it to happen.

But is it not ultimately the woman's choice to decide whether she wishes to accept the proposal and/or to have children with a particular man?

BUT...initially the man does the choosing...and that's what I said orginally. The decision is then left up to the woman, yes.

You nailed it. For years and years and years and years women have been sidestepping good guys for the bad guys. Girls inherit this from their mother and it's passed on down through the generations. The line "Nice guys finish last" was created for a reason. Women make bad choices with men every day.

In my experience, there does seem to be a problem with many girls AND guys to go for the slightly "dangerous" types- whether they be macho jerkish man-whores or catty sluts.

It's really unfortunate. I've been told on numerous occasions that I'm "too nice" to date by otherwise level-headed people.
