Is It Always Best To Tell The Truth?

This is something that has me wondering lately, especially since whenever someone asks me something or if I tell someone what I think about something, they get angry with me. Sometimes I think it's better to be a lying idiot than to be an honest person, since it seems like some folks can't handle the honest truth.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

It's always best to tell the truth. Makes it much easier to remember what you've said. wink

And

It's always better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

I think it's best to tell the truth. In the long run it's the best for everyone. It's not always easy, but it's the best thing to do.

Like for instance during a job interview (that's the phase I'm in now): if someone asks me do you think you're capable of doing this and I think I'm not, then I'll say so. Luckily for me I'm not kicked out during the interview but they respect and appreciate my honesty razz
I know I don't have the job, but otherwise I would crack under the stress of a way too heavy job and be eventually thrown out.

The truth is often more controversial than the lie.

I still vote for telling the truth, tho'.

I'd say yes the vast, vast majority of the time. I can think of an instance or 2 where it may not be right to lie, but perhaps best to just keep your mouth shut.

Depends on how you perceive truth, ugh. We're all mad liars, Ophelias screaming in chains bloody all, both to ourselves and especially to those we love and care about. Or believe we love and care about. Ugh, again. If a lie was an inch thick and you were stood on top of every one you've told, I'd look not so much like an ant, but more the nucleus inside an ant's eyeball cell.

A lot of people don't wanna hear the truth. I tell it a lot and people get pissed. If it will really hurt the person's feelings i won't.

I think there are certain circumstances where it's better to lie (e.g. if an ugly person asks you, "Am I ugly?"). Or if you're leaving your long-time barber for another and you don't wanna hurt his feelings. nod
