Yay! A Grits Appreciation thread I like mine with butter, salt, and pepper too. If I have cheese, bacon or sausage then I'll put it in my grits.....oh my god...scoop it up with some toast I even like instant grits.....but they're like my last option. I'd much rather have home made. I saw where Burger King is selling grits now.....not sure how theirs would taste. As far as chain restaurants, the Waffle House is on point with their grits. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Basically it's a ground corn product. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 so it is similar to polenta? or do you mix it with something other than water or stock?

I've seen the term polenta (now I don't know what that is ) used when grits were mentioned. it is a meal that you add water to, as to boil, made from corn husks. If you don't know what a corn husk is, it is the part of the corn you are left with after you take the corn off the cob. News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.

I love grits!Lovely Native American food.
They're made from hominy. Hominy is corn that is processed to get the skin off the kernels, and in the processing it swells up and gets soft. They take the hominy and dry it then grind it up. You can eat it as a cereal,or chill it and fry it in slices. "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"-Dr Seuss

Polenta is made of cornmeal ground from the whole dried corn kernels. Also another lovely Native American food that was borrowed by other people. "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"-Dr Seuss
