X Men 3 Charater reveals in USA Today!!

From comicbookmovie.com...

USA Today To Reveal X3 Characters
Is Callisto among the mutant horde expected in the third film?

Warning: Spoilers

USA Today is reportedly planning a big "character reveal" article for X-Men 3 in an upcoming issue which will feature the first official released images of cast members from the film, according to X-Verse.

Expect the images (especially Beast and Juggernaut) in the next few weeks, the paper's publicist told the fan site.

Meanwhile, actress Dania Ramirez is reportedly going to play Morlock leader Callisto in the film. The Morlocks are mutants too disfigured to live among "normals" in Manhattan. Cameron Bright will play Leech, another Morlock.

Callisto is seen on the Golden Gate Bridge in the film in which Magneto is seen leading his mutant army (including Jean Grey, Pyro, Juggernaut, Callisto and other Omega mutants).

nod UPDATE: Kelsey Grammer as Beast does, indeed, appear on the USA Today front page for 12-5-05!! And check out meltwithu's link below for that and other photos that appear online.

I'm just glad they didn't pick Calista to play Calisto. I'da killed someone. Dania Ramirez is fuckin hot, but why not pick Hudson Leick? She played Callisto for years on Xena...

the only problem i have with the story line they are going with is that the end of X2 teased of the phoenix saga, with the phoenix imprint at the bottom of the lake when jean grey "died"...now you come up with a whole different story line with a bunch of new characters who they are going to have to spend half the movie telling you who they are (i have been an x-fan since 1979)...not to mention that the director is best known for rush hour 1&2..not exactly character driven films.

what's the point with getting Nightcrawler out of the movie?

How do they justify this, he was the centerpoint of X2 & the most spectacular of all the characters!

He was a feature character because he has great presence, but not because he carries a plot. In my opinion, he was THE best thing about X2, but I think he'd have been hard to use in this one. Plus, I think they were trying to avoid his competing with Beast as the "intriguing, agile blue mutant."

The Phoenix story is a major part of this film. I have no problem with that. What I dislike is the majorly sucky script that they are apparently using.

Here's the USA Today article...
New mutants, director recharge 'X3'
By Scott Bowles, USA TODAY
The mutants are back. Now they just need the humans to return, too.

X-Men 3 hits the big screen next year with our heroes facing their toughest challenge yet: a fan base anxious about how the franchise will fare with a new director at the helm.

Ever since Bryan Singer bolted from the series to direct next year's Superman Returns, devotees have wondered whether the band of superhero misfits could return with a film to match the caliber of the first two, which took in more than $702 million worldwide. (Related gallery: Get your first glimpse at X Men 3)

Star Hugh Jackman isn't worried.

"I wouldn't have come back if I thought we weren't going to do the series justice," says Jackman, who plays the popular mutant Wolverine. "I think X-Men— and Bryan — led the rebirth of comic book movies. We weren't going to treat a third one lightly."

Brett Ratner directs X-Men 3, which gets its first look here and opens May 26. Ratner is best known for comedy, including the two Rush Hour films, and studio executives concede that a regime change gave them pause.

"I don't care what director we would have brought in; there would have been concern," says Avi Arad, head of Marvel Studios. "We had to make sure we were coming back with something serious, something new, that would improve the series. I think we did."

The encore will feature new characters, including the blue-haired strongman Beast, played by Kelsey Grammer, and Angel, a winged mutant played by Ben Foster (Six Feet Under). The plot centers on a cure discovered for our heroes' mutations, and their dilemma in choosing whether to remain individuals or blend into mainstream society.

"I'd never really thought about doing comic book movies before," Grammer says. "But this one has always been about what it's like to be an outsider. And we've all felt that way at times. I think that story line is what appeals to fans more than any filmmaker or star."

Fan Thomas Hay, 29, of Livonia, Mich., agrees. "They've got the whole cast back, plus more comic book characters. I'm confident. The characters and story are the most important thing."

X3 probably marks the last installment of the franchise.

"We really have become a family," says Halle Berry, who plays Storm, a mutant handy with a lightning bolt. "I'm going to be sad to say goodbye."

And moviegoers? Arad concedes there may be initial apprehension among fans. But "when they see how much we worked to stay true to the story, true to the characters, they're going to remember why they became fans in the first place."

...Avi Arad's "apprehension among fans" quip disturbs me. What the hell are we gonna be apprehensive about?!? whofarted

With all the technology available, you'd think they'd do a better makeup job. He looks more like Teen Wolf than the Beast.

I don't care what Arad says - without Singer, I have serious doubts about X3. I see another piece of crap like Fantastic Four.

I just don't think most superhero stories convert well to screen. I wasn't impressed with the first two, but I doubt there could've been a better film adaptation.

I'm hoping that Vinnie Jones does JUGGERNAUT justice!

Personally, I was hoping for someone who could physically resemble the monstrous being in the comics...like WWE wrestler Nathan Jones!

If you had read the reviews of the script that leaked (which it appears is the one they are filming), you would understand. If they are, indeed, making the film I think they are, it will rival Batman & Robin for worst comic film ever.

omg I hope that's not true.

I have read the early script reviews -- and it was alarming. But I guess I'm holding onto hope that they've made some much-needed revisions.

I will admit, though, that based on the teaser, lots of what I saw fit with what I read. sigh

nod Plus, with Cyclops pretty much confirmed to only be in this film for five minutes, well...that leads me to believe that the script is indeed the one being used. The storyboards shown on the FF DVD also show the Golden Gate sequence, which was a major scene in that script.
