Walmart vs Target (my study today and last night)

I needed razors. Walmart had them for 2.96 and target 4.30 for the same brand. So how the hell does this hurt america as i read on cnn just now.

hug i don't think there's any way of turning the tide of popular opinion here at the org for walmart instead of against it.

People like to argue that with its power Walmart forces companies that make the products Walmart sells to cut things like wadges and such nonsence. From my own experiences in the work place, companies were already and would always pay its workers as little as it could. I think it's a good thing what walmart does for the less fortunate masses.

I am sure too many people will find some fault in my stance. After all, that is what you do isn't it?

I dont buy personal items at Target, its just too damn expensive...

I think target will match the price if its advertised....

Funny because I wanted to buy these Nature Valley Sweet and Salty granola bars...Wal-Mart-$2.30. Target, $1.99 (everyday price)! Winner!

Also, Target (and most non-evil stores) have sales and not just bins of deeply discounted inferor products. That's when you stock up on the razors!

Actually, I don't think they will but most others places do (although don't quote me on that) but most other places do. There are a lot of opinions that aren't Wal-Mart. Hey, I gave Wal-Mart a chance and they dissapointed me. I bought my sister the new Britney Spears perfume in a small set and I found out it wasn't a great deal. If I got a similar product on sale at another store, I saved money. Screw them!

a co-workero fmine says that when she worked at walmart, they made their managers go into other stores and scan their merchandise secretly as a way to comp shop them..and that walmart teaches their employess what to say and do if they get busted...i think that's hitting below the belt, but i still shop there lurking

Wal-Mart apologizes for bad check accusation
TAMPA (AP) — Wal-Mart apologized to a black man who was falsely accused of trying to pass a bad check when he went to buy thousands of dollars' worth of holiday gift cards for employees of his manufacturing company.
"I keep going over and over the incident in my mind. I cannot come up with any possible reason why I was treated like this except that I am black," said Reginald Pitts.

Employees of a Wal-Mart Supercenter called sheriff's deputies last week to arrest Pitts after he handed over a $13,600 check to pay for 520 gift cards for employees at roofing supplier GAF Materials Corp., where Pitts is a human resources manager.

Wal-Mart spokeswoman Sharon Weber said Friday that the company does not tolerate discrimination. "We probably could have handled it better, but I won't know until we complete the investigation," Weber said.

Pitts said that when he went to the store last week to pick up the preprinted cards, store managers stalled for about two hours while he waited. He had handed over his business card, his driver's license and phone numbers to GAF's bank. His accounting supervisor assured them over the phone that GAF was good for the check.

Later, two Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies appeared. One grabbed Pitts by the arm. He objected to the rough handling and asked if he was being arrested.

"We need to talk with you about this forged check that you brought in here," Pitts quoted one as deputy saying. The deputy said later Wal-Mart had called and reported that Pitts had committed a felony.

A short time later deputies, determined there were no grounds for a criminal charge.

Pitts' company decided to buy its gift cards from Target.

Wal*Mart hurts the country in the same way other megastores like Home Depot hurt the country...you undersell the competition and force smaller stores to close, then force those displaced workers to take a low-paying job.

For example; Wal*Mart will sell its toys AT or BELOW cost just to bring the parents into the store to buy other crap. Then you have smaller toy stores...and even toy-giant Toys "R" Us...struggling to survive.
