Requiem For a Dream

eek o.my.gawd! who else caught this on IFC last night or has seen it b4?
that was wild! really good movie - not something i'd watch twice tho. i felt SO bad for the mom - out of all of them she seemed least deserving of her fate, she was sooo - innocent and naive. i damn near cried on that last sequence with tyrone doin labour, harry gettin his arm cut off, the mom with that shock therapy mess (!!!!) and marion in that sex scene - gawwwwwd that was wild! its a really good piece of film tho, i loved the "daily task" sequences where it showed the mom poppin pills and tyrone, harry and marian snortin and shootin and then they pupils dialatin - intense. anybody read the book? is it as good as the movie?
Yesterday is dead...tomorrow hasnt arrived yet....i have just ONE day...

I was really depressed about the mom after I saw this film for the first time until I realized it was Ellen Burstyn. And then I started to think about what a nut she was in EXORCIST. lol

This is a great movie. Shows Marlon Wayans in a serious acting light which was refreshing,

"Ass To Ass"! That was a new one! Great movie, the cinematography was truly innovative IMHO.

I love Ellen Burstyn, and I used to do speed in my early twenties. It reminds me of how shitty that drug is, plus Ms. Burstyn is spectacular in the role. Poor lady. She just wanted to be on television.

I am an Independent Film nut! I seen this movie when it was at the theatres and I thought it was an awesome depiction of human suffrage, self inflicted or otherwise. Ellen Burston should have won the academy award for that movie, but the mainstream dickheads gave it to some redheaded media induced icon named Julia Roberts for Erin Brockovich, which was also a good movie, but just not on the level of Requiem For a Dream

This is one of my favorite movies. It's sooo dark and crazy. Everybody in this movie was flawless. Marlon Wayans should get more serious roles, he's really really good in this.

Yeah, she did. There were so many great levels to her character. She really inhabited that role. Genius! Guess they figured Julia Roberts played the same Pretty Woman role so many times, they should award her some time for it. My feelings on the movie itself are mixed, but Ellen Burstyn was the best thing about it.

That makeup they did on her really was fantastic and realistic. I didn't know for sure whether it was makeup or not when I first saw it, but when I remembered how beautiful she is in real life, I felt kinda nuts for falling for it.

i saw this movie a few years back and it scared me shitless. i'm already scared of drugs as it is and this movie didn't help any.

I saw it with some of my friends and they wouldn't really tell me what it was about and when i saw marlon wayan's name in the credits i thought that maybe the movie would have some comic relief or something. i mean the opening credits are pretty dark but i was like 'Marlon wayans! well how scary can this movie be?" disbelief

the mother's storyline was the most depressing. i felt real bad for her. i didn;t have much sympathy for the others, though. drug addicts are the worst.

i think that the book is call 'last exit out of brooklyn' or something similar. i kind of want to read it but i kind of don't. confused

It's one of those British things isn't it. Didn't they have to change the name of the SPY WHO SHAGGED ME, for obvious reasons, in England?

i read the book before i saw the movie. the book was wierd. it was like a complete run on sentence-no punctuation marks in sight. it was confusing at first but then i got used to it. i really felt sorry for the mother.

no it wasn't. it was disturbing and disgusting. it was an image of a woman who had sold her soul and destroyed herself for drugs. she's one step away from being a one dollar crack ho.
