Being in Central FLorida, the heating situation really isn't much of a concern.

Ex-Moderator | The windchill was 5 below this morning. It was over 60 degrees less than a week ago. There is now snow on the ground. It turned winter overnight here.
As for heating bills - my landlord pays them all. |

What do you do to save money on heating bills? Fly south for the winter! Really? Here with the kids and babies I put the thermostat on 20°C for the winter and leave it like that, otherwise their little lips go blue and their toes and fingers are like little ice-blocks no probs today Thursday Fine. A sunny day with a light to moderate northerly wind and afternoon and evening seabreezes. Current Temperature: 13 C Forecast Max: 27 C

If you go over to her place or if somebody you know does, have them check out if the radiators have those dials on them where you set the temperature. If they do, have them screw the dials off. That'll make it warm and nice.

I have the opposite problem, lol. I can't get my heater to shut off. We have boiler heaters in our building, that are always on from about October to March. Even when you turn the thermostat dial down to zero, it's still giving off some heat. On warm days, my place feels like 100 degrees, and I hate running my air conditioner when the heat is running at the same time because it seems like such a waste of money.

Kinda like a heating pad/hot water bottle. You make a "pillow" filled with whole kernal feed corn and heat it up in the microwave. It has been saving my pregnant self w/migraines They are SUPER easy to make and I'm giving away a bunch for Chrsitmas gifts (with cute covers you can remove for washing )

dreamfactory313 said: What do you do to save money on heating bills? Nothing. Seattle weather is pretty mild (I think it went a few degrees below freezing once last winter), electricity is very cheap here, and I live in a new, energy-efficient building. However, my heater can be a bit overpowering at times, so I'll sometimes leave it off for a while. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

Since I live in an apt, I do not have gas heat. I have the same bill every month from the power company. I signed up for that so I wouldn't have crazy high bills this winter or during the summer. (being in south summer puts a hurting on my power bill with that AC!)
