Its getting cold up here in Michigan but I want to save as much money as possible this season and I havent turned on the heat yet. Im going to use my fireplace and wear thermal underwear for as long as I can. lol

What do you do to save money on heating bills?

Make sure your windows are well sealed.
Insulate.
Get a storm door (thinking about doing that myself).
Close off vents and doors to under-utilized rooms.
Wear sweaters (ask President Carter).

And, most important: Leave your thermostat set to only one temperature, rather than varying it through the day. It takes less work for your home to maintain a temperature than it does to warm it up periodically (like in the morning or when you get back from work).
