Someone keeps stealing my plants! My roommate and I moved into the downstairs apartment of a historic home downtown back in May. My roommate had a little plant that was all dried up and pitiful, so we put it outside, hoping it would grow (and also so we wouldn't have to look at it anymore!). Well, sure enough, about a month later, it was a GORGEOUS plant...beautiful bright red flowers. My mom said it was a rare, pretty expensive plant...I forget the name of it. Anyway, another month later, and it disappeared off of our porch. We had placed it on a ledge that jutted off the porch, so we kind of blamed ourselves for putting it in easy reach, and in a really nice pot, too!
So, recently, I got a mum plant...dime a dozen at Home Depot...along with a spider plant and another green plant...and this time placed them ON the porch...one would have to go up a few steps, then around, to steal them. Well, the other day, the MUM plant disappeared! I am so pissed! Who steals plants? I have half a mind to put notes under the remaining plants that say, "I know who you are. STOP taking my plants, and RETURN the ones you have." And getting a really beautiful flowered one to tempt them back up, just so they'll see the message. Grrrr.... I think it's probably either our unfriendly neighbor, who gardens, or one of the several middle-aged to older women who walk their dogs on our street. They must be picky, because in between the Little Plant That Could and the mum plant, I have had a few other flowering plants on the porch that no one touched. I have these fantasies, now, of going outside to check my mail and catching the thief in the act!!! I mean really...why steal a freakin' plant?!? | |
