Martin Landau played him perfectly in Tim Burton's 'Ed Wood'. He deserved the Oscar for that.

Gotta check that out. Accent and all?

If we're going to get into TV shows...

Anyone remember Kindred: The Embraced?

To me, the absolute best was Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Creator Joss Whedon can do no wrong in my eyes.

I have nothing new to add to this, but these are my faves (in no particular order):

Interview with the Vampire ( I hate Tom Cruise, but him and Brad Pitt are SOOOOO sexy together)

Lost Boys (Evil, bloodsucking teenage boys are my weakness!)

Near Dark (funny and scary)

Bram Stoker's Dracula (Gary Oldman makes a damn fine Prince of Darkness)

Fright Night (good one liners and Chris Sarandon was kinda yummy)

OMG! Lost Boys is STILL good TO THIS DAY!!!!

I used to watch that video all the time when I was younger and in love with Cory Haim.

How did they make it both funny AND scary. pray

When the vampires come to this house is one of the best scenes ever!!!

Corey Haim was my fave actor in the day...i had to buy "Lost Boys" twice on VHS cause I wore the mutha out!!!

Yep, accent and all. It was sad to see the drug problems Bela had later in his life.

1. Nosferatu (there can only be one!)

2. Bram Stoker's Dracula
3. Dracula (1931)
4. Shadow of the Vampire

That's all. Notice the space between 1 and 2.

No other vampire movie seems worthy of number 5 for me. The Nosferatu I refer to is the original silent film from 1922. biggrin

I don't think anyone has mentioned these two great movies:

Vampyr by Carl Dreyer
1932, silent, Denmark

and

Dracula: Pages from a Virgin's Diary by Guy Maddin
2001, Canada, ballet

In no particular order (and subject to change lol):

1) Martin
2) Interview with the Vanmpire
3) Nosferatu: A Symphony of Terror
4) Dracula (1931)
5) The Hunger (cheesy, but vampires and the slick, self-centered consumption of the 80s made an interesting juxtaposition)

Natisse

Interview with a vampire worship
Dracula
Queen of the Damned
Blade
Lost Boys

and an honourable mention for Dracula 2000 (but only because of that beautiful Scot Gerard Butler love)

I think Christopher Lee is the best DRACULA ever. Hammer films rock!!!!!
I remember watching them on Saturday mornings at 11am. I don't know why they played them at that time.

...Bela Lugosi was the architect of the suave Vampire character.

The movies went from the sublime...

Dracula - 1931
Mark of the Vampire - 1935
The Return of the Vampire - 1944
Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein - 1948

...to the ridiculous
