What a perfect time to start getting crafty!

i was just over at shinders (local bookstore here in mpls) during my lunch break, and i found this really cool book...

i flipped through it to see what was in it, and it turns out that it's totally up my alley! it has all these instructions on how to make all of these punksy arts & crafts things...and since it's starting to get cold outside, this stuff will be perfect for me to try out over the winter months. yay for my overactive imagination not being put out to hibernate when i'm indoors! yay!yay!yay!

reminds me: ripher2shreds is gonna teach me how to knit, so this'll be perfect. dancing jig

I love crafts. I like giving them as gifts...though I always think that it's really cheap though and still have the mmentality that store bought is better. boxed

One of my favorite craft items is FEMO (polymer) clay. ALways fun and colorful to work with.

nod It's muy facil! Start with something simple like a scarf, and see if you're intersted in anything more complicated than that.

I knit and sew and work with fabric. I just made new drapes for my mom! nod I was awarded the Martha Stewart award in high school, for good reason. lol

Knitting is a LOVELY hobby and cheap, too. Last Christmas I made scarves for my whole family (six in all - I made one a day). This Christmas I'm sewing them all kitchen towels. superspaceboy is totally right!

Don't get discouraged if you don't get knitting right away from the website. Most knitters I know agree that you need to physically learn from a person right in front of you. I was the same way. My grandmother came to visit when I was in the 3rd grade and taught me how to knit. She left for somewhere and was to return in a week. I somehow forgot how to knit in that time and cried the whole week until she came back and showed me again.

These are my latest projects; a bright yellow baby blanket for my boyfriend's brother's baby (due in the Spring) and a quilt, also for the baby. Sorry about the photo quality/size, but you get the gist.

As you can tell, I'm not a fan of pastels. At all. smile
I mean, like, where is the sun?

It's true. For me anyway, it was easier to learn from a person. I read books and looked at the videos on that Web site, but they proved to be of most help after I'd learned the basics from a friend. I'll learn ya some, Deja!

i love knitting! my mother taught me when i was in college and the first thing i made was this huge scarf. I still wear it because it's extra warm in the winter.

i'd also like to learn how to crochet and properly use the sewing machine.

Dansa, check out the book stitch and bitch. it has some cool knitting patterns and good instruction as well. You can check it out here: http://www.bust.com/knith...book.shtml

i think you'd like the alien scarf.
