Plain and simply put, it's a symbol of pride for people who live in the past.
By itself, it's a nice looking flag, but the ideologies behind it aren't good. The only people here in the Bay that display this flag are redneck, wannabe fuckheads who believe there will be a race war someday. These are people that I've known personally (my idiot ex boyfriend and my friend's husband), and I tell them how retarded their thinking is every chance I get.

You're not alone. I'd want to run anyone with that symbol on their car off the road too 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

well, i learned that im not crazy to feel the hate that i have inside when i see this image, and that im not alone in this. i learned the same as the above. what am i taking away ??? not much, other than that there are still some really fucked up people in the world. and what do i teach others ??? well, that racism is not a thing of the past, its alive and well.... just hiding in smaller corners One of the best days of my life... http://prince.org/msg/100/291111

how do i feel when i see a confederate flag? Disgust. I think about how sorry I feel for the person who is displaying it and really wondering how ignorant they really look for displaying it at all...
it's a symbol of the past, yet people still display it to "glorify" the past and the past meaning slavery, segregation, and the horror that took place many many years ago. And its disappointing to know that it still is happening today, just not as often...but it is still here. I rarely see black people (myself included) with shackles in the back of their window in their cars or have crosses in their yard to display pride of the past...please, so why are these damn flags still in existence???? Just my opinion of it, and just how i see it. i've read a few responses on here, and some people feel that the flag has nothing to do with racism or many years of violence, destruction, and mutilation of african americans...but i think thats just an excuse to be free to still show the flag if and whenever they want since its a free country and all.... I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

speaking of keeping racism alive and well ... whats so different with your mindset towards these people or the flag they fly hun ? i knew you would ask ..... and im glad you did see, i dont hate white people, that would just be stupid. but, i have issues with white people who are racist.... the flag is hateful and hurtful, therefore, i dont care WHAT the reason is for flying it... if it brings these emotions out in people, and surely the folks that fly the flag know it does.... i dont understand why they would do that!!!!! now, thats racism to me.... you know it makes another person feel all these different emotions and makes them terribly uncomfortable, but, they dont care about that, they fly it anyway ..... its sick. Dear Missfee, please correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel you are referencing me. If so, I'd like to point out that I NEVER said "the flag has nothing to do with racism or many years of violence, destruction, and mutilation of african americans." Nor did I say anything remotely close to that. I feel I'm speaking more on a political and historical level rather than an emotional one. An excuse to be free? People don't need and "excuse" to be free.... Some of the comments made on this thread are hilariously ironic. "not a fan" yeah...ok
