I can't believe people were still using WinMX, it's been dire for years.

Try Soul Seek: http://www.slsknet.org/
Or even Limewire.

For something a little more 'specific', try the newsgroup alt.binaries.music.prince - or the Royal Hub on DC++

There's an ABMP FAQ on HQ.com and DC++ info can be found immediately on Google.

If you're interested in downloading from the binaries, I'd recommend Grab It before any other application.

You can download it here: http://www.shemes.com/ind...p=download

Soulseek is cool, but it's one-on-one. If the person you're downloading from logs off, you're scuppered.

I've personally never found Shareaaza to be useful.

The best new P2P utility I've come across recently is Ares. It's a lot like KazaaLite but faster somehow. Just like Kazaa, it'll pick up the download from another user if more than one person has the file you're downloading.

http://sourceforge.net/pr...resgalaxy/

Limewire should be avoided. It takes up waaay too much memory when running. It's almost like your computer's had a stroke, whilst it's running in the background.

p.s. I'm not advocating the sharing of copyrighted material - I'm just saying.

WinMX is gone, but you can resurrect it by following the instructions here:

http://www.slyck.com/news.php?story=925

I tried it and it works fine though I expect there is a greatly reduced amount of users.

I think the days of p2p networks are numbered. WinMX got a 'cease and desist' order, and they did, I expect the others will be tracked down eventually. I like WinMX because it was simple to use and no spyware/advertising unlike others which are rife with it and slow your machine down.

One Down, 5 More on the way, just how it goes. If anything it'll become like low-level programming languages where it'll almost be like machine code trying to actually download anything! Have U tried getting in2 the Royal Hub or BitTorrent in comparison? Horrendous!

Matrix anyone?

Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

They have a website, with a FAQ and help - it'll tell you everything, although I found it quite self-explanatory myself.

Yes - the harder it becomes to find these programs and use them simply, the less people will join in and they will become redundant anyway as no one will be able to find anything they want anymore. You need a big user base to make them practical.

Try re-connecting winmx using the info in the link in one of my earlier posts. Even some of my waiting files finished after doing this. Winmx was/is still pretty good, I've found files on there I couldn't find on other p2p.

The official place to download Prince music is npgmusicclub.com.

With regards to filesharing programs, which don't necessarily have to be used to trade copyrighted material (though thats sort of like saying a bong is for tobacco), BitComet (torrent client) and sites like Torrentspy.com is usually the best place to find stuff, IMO.

Bearshare Pro isn't too bad when you're looking for an individual track here and there. But the quality of the tracks tends to be poor.
