As a "love who you damn well please" Southernor, I would like to send my hearty support to anyone who chooses to come out today in any capacity. It's a brave step to take in a messed-up world that values conflict over love. Those individuals who have happened to be gay that I have come across in my life have been valued friends whose sexuality was only one component of many that made them up. It's a brave step, coming out, and I have known some people here in South Carolina who have had a rough time of it. I just don't understand the hostility and I really don't get how it affects one person who another chooses to love, sleep with, what have you. We have 70-80 years on this earth and people should be, and be with, who they choose.

I hope this doesn't sound pandering or sappy or anything. I heard on one of the radio station's this morning that it was "National Coming Out Day" and I just wanted to say something to illustrate that all straight Southernors weren't homophobic rubes with heads up our asses. You got some friends down here in the South so don't forget it!

You are one of the nicest, funniest, most open-minded guys I see on the Org.
