When I was younger, I used to look forward to the MTV VMAs (which used to air in September), the new TV season and walking my dog while listening to the Blue Jays' games on my Walkman (man, have I changed!). These days when September rolls around (to quote Bruce Springsteen), "I still get down on my knees and thank God I don't have to go back to high school."

I just went for my last run before the TCM on Sunday so I'm sitting here shirtless and sweating and Hot chocolate is the last thing I would want. I'm drinking raspberry lemonade and its great.

But fall is a great time of year for running. Today's weather was perfect unfortunately it's going to way too hot this weekend for ideal marathon running.

Try to figure out a way to not gain back all the body fat I lost over the summer...

I live in Florida, we do not have fall!!



I cannot wait to curl up in some flannel jammies and drink hot chocolate. I have a few months to go before I can do that...

my favorite fall activity is walking through trees during the leaf change... so pretty

I really love hot chocolate, too. Try making it in a blender. Cuz the hot milk getting all spun around like that makes it frothy like cappuccino foam.

Know what else is good?

Mexican hot chocolate!

Look for a recipe online, I don't quite remember it all, but you get this solid chocolate from ...Spanish..oppolis, or wherever Spanish things usually come from, I think Nestle makes it, it's usually on the international aisle in any grocery store. The package has a charming old lady's face on it.

Anyway, you crush that up and melt it in a saucepan of milk on the stove, and add cinnamon, and get this, cornmeal.

Yes, cornmeal.

It makes real thick, cinnamon-y hot cocoa to drink, and if the cornmeal part scares you- just think about churros. If you've ever had those cinnamon churros- those crispy, chewey sticks- it tastes just like those.

Cuz that's essentially how those are made- a cinnamon and cornmeal batter squirted through an icing bag with a star-tip nozzle thing onto a fryer.

it's still too damn hot here to do that. I'd burn up in flannel now. I wish it'd hurry up and get cold here. well, not cold cold, but a little cooler than it is now.

getting really drunk before going out so I don't have to bring a jacket. that and smoking outside (because the smoke looks so beautiful). I also love to sit inside all bundled up and shuffle around in slippers.

It'z spring here!! But in autumn the hot chocolate thing is a fanTABulouso idea in my bookz!! Nothin like curlin up in a ball on the sofa with a hot chocolate or coffee!!

Also, it was 88 degrees here yesterday. Fall keeps disappearing on us.
