And by the way, this is how it is in Sweden, usually:

nov+dec+jan+feb+mar = winter
apr+may = spring
june+jul+aug = summer
sep+oct = fall

This year we've had a fantastic September though. I just took a long walk in the sunshine wearing only a t-shirt. woot!

But you're mentioning many of the things I love. I love bringing out my fall clothes. I love adding a jacket or coat to what I'm wearing. I don't wanna sit on the ground anyway. ( tease ) I adore taking a stroll through the park and having the place mostly to myself.

Now, you've got me on the darkness thing. The part I hate most about winter is the whole dark when I leave the house in the morning, dark when I get home from work, thing. In fact, I hate many aspects of winter. But fall? It's all still cozy to me.

Well, I agree with what you said before about it being great to have four real seasons. But I'd divide them like this, if I could decide:

dec+jan = winter
feb+mar = spring
apr+may+jun+jul+aug+sep = summer
oct+nov = fall

mr.green

You get a hell of a summer! Here we're lucky if we get June 15-August 15. lol

If winter only lasted 2 weeks I'd love it. As it is, I can tolerate it for about a month or so. Then, I really begin to loathe it. Although, I'm not sure how I'd deal living in a place without the distinct seasons. I think one of the best parts of Minnesota is watching how people truly begin to come alive in the Spring and Summer. All the outdoor festivals, the farmers markets, the lakes, etc. We squueze every ounce of outdoor fun we can out of it. We appreciate it more. I love that.

Ain't that the truth! lol As soon as there's a lick of sunlight and heat, everybody's all, "It's warm outside. I'm going for a walk around the lake!" And I'm like...WTF? It's still March! Take off the shorts and put some proper slacks on.

But autumn here is a gorgeous sight. If only it lasted longer than a week and a half. sad

I love how we get all bundled up when it's 50 degrees in the fall....and break out the shorts when it's 50 degrees in the spring biggrin I do love the distinct seasons too...

I love going up to my dad's and seeing the colors changing on the lake, going to my sister-in-laws cross country meet at Enger golf course this weekend(Swain...she's the coach woot! ), drinking hot chocolate with whipped cream, snuggling under my down comforter smile Minnesota falls are wonderful...I want to take a drive up the North Shore soon to see the colors too.

Ummmm...that's Native American summer and also technically since we haven't had frost here in the Twin Cities this isn't Native American summer quite yet.

Fall is my favorite time of year. The air is dry and cool, the tempurature is perfect. Plus there's squirrels EVERYWHERE. smile

I sleep way better at night cuz I can bury myself under a ton of blankets and break out the flannel sheets.

Come and live in Australia (Melbourne anyway):
sep-dec: springy/summery
dec-march: summer
mar-may: autumny
may-sep: a little bit colder but really mostly autumny (if you want snow drive 1.5 hrs

Reincarnate

I love going for walks through woods at this time of year, particularly when the leaves start falling.
