What do you like to do in the fall?

Ooh, I love Fall/Autumn and the Winter. Reminds me of being a kid, dark nights, wrapping up warm. Much better than Summer.

Im an apple cider fan myself. Here in Michigan this time of year, it is a must to visit one of Michigan's apple orchards for fresh cider and the whole bit. This is a beautiful place to be in the fall. The trees are absolutely amazing in the Upper Penninsula of Michigan about now.

And my favorite holiday is coming up.

going monday to pick fresh apples ...drink hot cider, eat a carmel apple and pick pumpkins !!

I really love hot chocolate, too. Try making it in a blender. Cuz the hot milk getting all spun around like that makes it frothy like cappuccino foam.

Know what else is good?

Mexican hot chocolate!

Look for a recipe online, I don't quite remember it all, but you get this solid chocolate from ...Spanish..oppolis, or wherever Spanish things usually come from, I think Nestle makes it, it's usually on the international aisle in any grocery store. The package has a charming old lady's face on it.

Anyway, you crush that up and melt it in a saucepan of milk on the stove, and add cinnamon, and get this, cornmeal.

Yes, cornmeal.

It makes real thick, cinnamon-y hot cocoa to drink, and if the cornmeal part scares you- just think about churros. If you've ever had those cinnamon churros- those crispy, chewey sticks- it tastes just like those.

Cuz that's essentially how those are made- a cinnamon and cornmeal batter squirted through an icing bag with a star-tip nozzle thing onto a fryer.

Long walks, coming home to a bowl of home made soup or stew, bug chunk of bread and an open fire.

I'm excited for the leaves to turn. And to walk down my street crunching them as I go. And for sweater weather. And visiting an apple orchard and drinking hot cider.

I am that rare breed of Minnesota residents who actually likes winter here. There are so many people that seem to absolutely loathe it. Not me! Of course, I prefer it from the inside.

If winter only lasted 2 weeks I'd love it. As it is, I can tolerate it for about a month or so. Then, I really begin to loathe it. Although, I'm not sure how I'd deal living in a place without the distinct seasons. I think one of the best parts of Minnesota is watching how people truly begin to come alive in the Spring and Summer. All the outdoor festivals, the farmers markets, the lakes, etc. We squueze every ounce of outdoor fun we can out of it. We appreciate it more. I love that.

Yeah that's fun and cozy and all that...for a week. Then it gets annoying to not be able to sit on the ground because it's wet and cold, to not be able to do any fun outdoor activities to speak of, to have to spend an eternity putting on bulky clothes every time you go out, to not see many people moving around and therefore feel isolated - and the real killer: to see the day turn into night already in the afternoon.

Yay for summer! And indian summer! And any other type of summer that might exist!

But you're mentioning many of the things I love. I love bringing out my fall clothes. I love adding a jacket or coat to what I'm wearing. I don't wanna sit on the ground anyway. ( ) I adore taking a stroll through the park and having the place mostly to myself.

Now, you've got me on the darkness thing. The part I hate most about winter is the whole dark when I leave the house in the morning, dark when I get home from work, thing. In fact, I hate many aspects of winter. But fall? It's all still cozy to me.
