Post-vacation shock

jet Do you ever go on vacation and then come back to your real life and find that you simply can't cope with it? Or that culture shock is kicking you out of the park? I got back Thursday and I'm just spinning in circles. Can't seem to get a grip on myself or my life. It's like my head is on the end of kite string while my body plods in sea of cement (figuratively and literally). Or something like that.

Ahh, yes, this usually happens when you get that first post-vacation credit card statement.

Chin up.

I don't even have to go anywhere to get this feeling. If I just take a day off to run errands I start plotting how I could survive with no job...maybe make jelly, can preservatives, string pooka beads to sell on the beach...

Vacations have a way of exposing ... or confirming ... some stressors or fault lines in our lives.

Ouch. I think the worst case I had was after living in Europe for 7 months, having to return to Minnesota to live with my parents. I was depressed all summer!

It'll pass with time. But I understand. It's an extremely uncomfortable feeling to not be able to be where you are or accept it or like it much.
