Let's say you had Fifty Bucks... ..and you had to buy a week's worth of groceries. This was your budget.
How would you spend it so you could actually live off it? Inside the Fleshofmyflesh is the Soulofmysoul

Please elaborate. i've done it before. i just get two big ol' jars of pasta sauce - whatever's on sale for cheepest that doesn't look gross, and two or three boxes of pasta, which usually costs under two bucks. then i'll treat myself to one or two 2-liters of soda for a dollar a bottle, and if it's winter i'll get a box of cheap oatmeal for 1.50 or so. summer? i'll just drink off whatever tea or coffee i have at home for brekkies. it gets me through the week when i'm in a pinch - god bless pasta.

Please elaborate. a box of cereal: either $2 or $3 a half-gallon of soy milk: $3 that's $8 right there. either that, or like anxy mentioned, pasta's the way to go also. believe me, i know...i'm used to only having $5 or $10 on me and wondering how to pull thru a week with it. malt-o-meal edit [Edited 9/2/05 16:47pm]

3 or 4 loaves of bread, some peanut butter, promite, a few bags of pasta, cans of chopped tomato, packs of noodles, a few tins of tuna, three 12 packs of yoghurt, some muesli - that's about $20 for two people and some things like Promite and peanut butter would last for more than the week.
If I absolutely had to I could eat here for around $8 a week eating all rice-based meals with vegetables from the market, fish balls and the odd bit of pork mince.

I wouldn't know what to do with a whole $50 worth of groceries
I would buy some chicken (case for $20 usually lasts me a month) some frozen stirfry veggies (big bag for $10 lasts me a couple weeks) Some milk (1L for $1.20 lasts all week) Cinnamon oatmeal (box of 10 packages for $2.25) Bag of apples for $3 a case of bottled water $4 maybe some yougurt (usualy 3 for $1) and a bag of brown rice ($1.25). I don't really eat much, Im a nibbler and I usualy nibble on veggies and fruit...and I drink alot of coffee I think $50 would cover me for 2 weeks at least

Unfortunately my favourite wine, Rosemount Estate Shiraz, costs the equiv. of $50 here.
This is as opposed to the equivalent of $13.50 in the UK. Wine isn't a luxury, it's a staple!!!
