The local media is telling us that we might as well get used to this because it is a "new way of life" and we need to adapt to it and stop complaining. How the hell is someone supposed to adapt to waiting for five hours every time they need to get ass? That is half of a work day. I know I'm bitching but I'm pissed. Thanks again for the concern. you meant to say 'gas', right? That has got to be the typo of the year. Andy is a four letter word.

An unlicensed young african American got the keys to a big yellow school bus and picked up 80 people and jetted to the Astrodome. He arrived safely and was first given some troubles entering due to non-FEMA bus stats, But later cleared thru with all 80 passengers on board. HATS OFF TO THIS KID! Great job! I just got an email from a friend in Houston.
She says that people are having to spend their money on hotels and such, leaving no money for essentials.. the local YMCA's are taking gift cards, I guess the kind for drug stores, grocery stores, etc. You can take gift cards to your YMCA, or mail them to the ones in Houston. I would call your local one first and see if they are collecting. If there are certain gift cards that are accepted more, I will let you know.

It looks absolutely like hell. That doesn't seem to be as important of an issue right now. It seems that the immediate concern is survival for the law enforcement officials since many of them are being shot at while trying to do their duties. I saw two instances of this on one of the news channels today as it was happening. If these people would rather shoot at the very people trying to help them than be saved from this hell, then they're just asking for something to happen to them. After the Tsunami there were food drops within 48 hours, the relief effort was no where near this chaotic or late in arriving. I guess a lot of people are just shocked that this has happened, and people have been left to fend for themselves for too long before any help arrived. If the government wanted to prevent or at least contain the breakdown of law and order perhaps they should have sent in extra law enforcement officials sooner. .... [Edited 9/3/05 10:01am]

Here is a great example of neighbors helping neighbors. Here in Jackson, the coliseum is one of the shelters for people that fled the hurricane. People have been crammed in there all week and I know it could get very boring after awhile.
Anyway, there is a couple from New Orleans that came to our coliseum to escape the hurricane. This couple was scheduled to get married earlier this week but had to postpone the wedding because of the tragedy. They have lost their homes in New Orleans and everything they own. When the people of Jackson heard that they postponed their wedding, people from everywhere donated things so they could go ahead with their wedding. All the decorations were donated by local businesses. A limosine service donated one of their limos for the couple to use. The bride's wedding gown and all the clothes for the bride's maids and participants in the wedding were donated. Local unknown musicians are performing at the wedding. The wedding cake and all the food was donated for the reception. This couple is eating steak and lobster this evening. The wedding is taking place at the coliseum as we speak and is being televised on one of the local television stations. The couple's family and friends from out of town is seated in chairs on the floor of the coliseum and all the other evacuees that fled the hurricane are watching the wedding from the stands. Everyone seems to be having a good time and at least they get an evening of enjoyment after having such a long miserable week down there in the coliseum. Andy is a four letter word.

TonyVanDam: I'm Still Alive!!!
Read THIS carefully because it will be a LONG while before any ORG members hears from me again: 1. Katrina mess up Metairie & Kenner, Louisiana pretty bad. But at least everyone at my apartment complex are alive & well. 2. Where in the hell is Saintsation? 3. Vainandy, I'm happy to know that you're still alive young man. Stay funky brother! 4. Thank you to Purplecam, Gangstafam, & countless others for doing their best of keeping up with the posts as much as possible. 5. I really try my best to keep all of you posted as long as I still has power at my place. My part of town was one of the last to lose electrical power & water in general. 6. Where in the hell is Ms.Legs? 7. Have anyone from New Orleans been drop off in any of your homestates? 8. And finally, my apartment (first floor) is a mess. Most of the water came from the ceiling because of the roof damages that ruined most of the third floor and some of the second floor apartments!!! Still and all, I'm alive because of the mercy & protection of the almighty Yahweh. And BTW, I'm typing from my best friends' computer. Therefore, I won't be able to visit the ORG too often for awhile. And beside, they're still have bills to pay and I want them stay in their budget! As for myself, I'll be homeless without a job for awhile. But this is a temporary setback. So don't sweat it too often. I'll be back. My ORG membership is still on. Thanks! And may Yahweh's holy spirit be with all of you.
