I wasn't sure where to post this exactly, but if you would be willing to share your home to a refugee of the hurricane, be it a room, an extra bed, a decent couch, please go to www.hurricanehousing.org

I was sent this by moveon.org this morning. If you are within 300 miles of the areas hit by the hurricane, they especially need rooms, but anywhere will do.

Just another way to help, peeps.

Our government is to blame for the delay. Fact is if these were white people, aid would have been there already. And if mostly white people lived in New Orleans, the government would have fixed the levy problem a long time ago. I'm sure this has already been said but it is true.

I agree. Race and class have a lot to do with the unpardonable neglect of these citizens. disbelief

This has really affected me. I can't believe all of the things that are happening because of the destruction and the lack of help these people are getting. Much of my heart in in New Orleans and the outlying areas like Metorie.

My friends are trying to organize a night of DJ's and Bands to help the relief out there. I really hope we get to do that.

Meanwhile, I have decided to give proceeds of my CD sales to the Red Cross. It's not much, but it's what I can do right now. If any of you are interested in picking it up you can at www.cdbaby.com/fuzzpod.

my thoughts go out to all of those that lost everything pray

many of us feel the way you do. it is so frikin sad...ALL of it.

my friend was in a similar situation as her dad decided not to evacuate and had to break into the apt upstairs from him...which was incredibly dangerous and not so smart, but you do what you think is best. We hadn't heard from him since until just yesterday after his rescue in a boat.

I hope your family is ok. keep us posted. hug

Friday, September 2nd, 2005

Dear Mr. Bush:

Any idea where all our helicopters are? It's Day 5 of Hurricane Katrina and thousands remain stranded in New Orleans and need to be airlifted. Where on earth could you have misplaced all our military choppers? Do you need help finding them? I once lost my car in a Sears parking lot. Man, was that a drag.

Also, any idea where all our national guard soldiers are? We could really use them right now for the type of thing they signed up to do like helping with national disasters. How come they weren't there to begin with?

Last Thursday I was in south Florida and sat outside while the eye of Hurricane Katrina passed over my head. It was only a Category 1 then but it was pretty nasty. Eleven people died and, as of today, there were still homes without power. That night the weatherman said this storm was on its way to New Orleans. That was Thursday! Did anybody tell you? I know you didn't want to interrupt your vacation and I know how you don't like to get bad news. Plus, you had fundraisers to go to and mothers of dead soldiers to ignore and smear. You sure showed her!

I especially like how, the day after the hurricane, instead of flying to Louisiana, you flew to San Diego to party with your business peeps. Don't let people criticize you for this -- after all, the hurricane was over and what the heck could you do, put your finger in the dike?

And don't listen to those who, in the coming days, will reveal how you specifically reduced the Army Corps of Engineers' budget for New Orleans this summer for the third year in a row. You just tell them that even if you hadn't cut the money to fix those levees, there weren't going to be any Army engineers to fix them anyway because you had a much more important construction job for them -- BUILDING DEMOCRACY IN IRAQ!

On Day 3, when you finally left your vacation home, I have to say I was moved by how you had your Air Force One pilot descend from the clouds as you flew over New Orleans so you could catch a quick look of the disaster. Hey, I know you couldn't stop and grab a bullhorn and stand on some rubble and act like a commander in chief. Been there done that.

There will be those who will try to politicize this tragedy and try to use it against you. Just have your people keep pointing that out. Respond to nothing. Even those pesky scientists who predicted this would happen because the water in the Gulf of Mexico is getting hotter and hotter making a storm like this inevitable. Ignore them and all their global warming Chicken Littles. There is nothing unusual about a hurricane that was so wide it would be like having one F-4 tornado that stretched from New York to Cleveland.

No, Mr. Bush, you just stay the course. It's not your fault that 30 percent of New Orleans lives in poverty or that tens of thousands had no transportation to get out of town. C'mon, they're black! I mean, it's not like this happened to Kennebunkport. Can you imagine leaving white people on their roofs for five days? Don't make me laugh! Race has nothing -- NOTHING -- to do with this!

You hang in there, Mr. Bush. Just try to find a few of our Army helicopters and send them there. Pretend the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast are near Tikrit.

Yours,

Michael Moore

P.S. That annoying mother, Cindy Sheehan, is no longer at your ranch. She and dozens of other relatives of the Iraqi War dead are now driving across the country, stopping in many cities along the way. Maybe you can catch up with them before they get to DC on September 21st.

Did you guys know that Bush was golfing on Tuesday? Yea, putting and chopping at clumps of grass while people walked through polluted water, and babies went without water, while the broken toilets overflowed and shit stunk into heaven.

Bush won't even let starving people loot food and water. Fuck that, survival is number one for any sane person--fuck the rules and fuck this government.

According to the latest news the Governer of Louisiana is giving the National Guard a 'shoot to kill' order, where they can shoot dead anyone in the streets. It is getting bleak.

On BBC.com they are reporting that Canada, the UN, and other Southeast Asain countries have offered to help the USA, and the Federal Government is "considering" the offers.

Also, the Mayor of Chicago offered to send police, sanitation workers, trucks, etc BEFORE the hurricane hit and so far, FEMA has requested ONE truck. disbelief

WHAT THE FUCK is the government waiting for?!?? Like they're doing such a great job and don't need all the help they can get? They should be ashamed of themselves.

I dont blame people for taking food and water, not at all. What are they supposed to do when there is no alternative? Its a matter of survivial. It looks absolutely like hell.

That doesn't seem to be as important of an issue right now. It seems that the immediate concern is survival for the law enforcement officials since many of them are being shot at while trying to do their duties. I saw two instances of this on one of the news channels today as it was happening. If these people would rather shoot at the very people trying to help them than be saved from this hell, then they're just asking for something to happen to them.

That's hardly the rule. If they're being shot at, shoot back to kill and then do your fucking job to save the realmany.

Young dude Jacked Yellow Bus to Astrodome

An unlicensed young african American got the keys
to a big yellow school bus and picked up 80 people
and jetted to the Astrodome.

He arrived safely and was first given some troubles
entering due to non-FEMA bus stats, But later
cleared thru with all 80 passengers on board.

The immediate concern is the law enforcement? Why did they think they were being flown in there, for photo ops? The immediate concern is the people they are trying to save. It's not like there are snipers on every roof. This isn't Iraq.

This is a major urban disaster and I would hope that one of the ways they prep for those is by realizing that rioting and violence could occur and they need to have a plan for that.

As bad as things are down there, things do not seem to be erupting into massive rioting and violence. A few gunshots should not cause the national guard to fold. If it did, I would worry about our chances in Iraq.

There's a sniper? Take him out and save the people.

This is some stupid media thing. CNN preps for disasters in its own way apparently.
