I have not been this scared in a while. I live in Jackson, MS and this is the worste I have seen in my area in my lifetime. The governor just made a speech and said that Biloxi is almost completely destroyed. The storm was supposed to weaken and move east but it hasn't seemed to move east yet. It is headed straight through Mississippi and on it's way to Jackson. The news is expecting winds up to 60 and 70 miles per hour in Jackson.

There are several huge pine trees in my back yard and a huge oak tree in my neighbor's yard that has grown over into my yard and over my house. We expect the power to go out later and are prepared for that. However, I'm scared these trees can't take these winds. The local news has taken over the television channels on all four networks since last night. If it gets worse tonight, I am going to the coliseum.

Damn Vainandy I'm so sorry to hear that. I will keep you all in my prayers. I hope you all take cover and make it thru this tough time.

IF they loot grocery stores, I can see the reasoning and besides, if it's stolen insurance takes care of it. Superdome officials were telling people to bring their own food. I mean they can feed those people with the candy, junk, etc. Most of that food will rot that's perishable anyway

I haven't heard from anyone in my family. I have 3 elderly aunts that lived in New Orleans, they have children and grandchildren. I just want to know that they are alive and un injured oh and where to send the checks cause from the looks of things big $$$$ will be needed.

One aunt "had" a house in the 9th Ward, my uncle's church is there as well.

pray is appreciated.

Wow, just watched the news...

There's a man who was holding onto his wife and kids, but couldn't hold onto all of them. His wife told him to take care of the kids, and she was then swept away..

Tragic.

I saw the same report on Fox. That just crushed my heart. It hurts seeing all these residents having to go through all of this. It's so surreal watching people have to be evacuated by helicopter from the roofs of homes. I pray for everyone in the whole Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

I actually agree with that...I dont have a problem with them looting grocery stores. Shit the stuff will spoil anyway and those people are hungry. Steal other things is not cool and especially not stealing things from someone else's home. BUT food from an abandoned grocery is understandable.

There are numerous staples that you can get from markets that do not have to be cooked to be eaten.

Perhaps now that President Bush has deigned to cut his important holiday on his vast ranch in Texas short, he will launch a 'War on Weather'.

I know, right?! He is such a dumbass. At least he realizes the severity of this (even if he lives in a fantasy world most of the remaining time).
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

You know President Bush has seen a lot of tragedies during his two terms in the White House. Those troops and money that he's sent to Iraq sure would come in handy now. He is truly an arrogant and inept leader.

New Orleans is a disaster area right now. Water got by another levee yesterday and downtown New Orleans is under several feet of water. Streets that were ok after the worst of things on Monday are now flooded. People are openly looting, police are walking the streets with semi-automatic weapons, there is no clean water. Travelers that were stranded in hotels are being asked to leave cause the hotels can't take care of them. They will likely not have power for 6 weeks.
I cried watching news reports yesterday.
