i have little cousin was just got told he needs to attend a theraphist for anti-social attitudes..i get told..its becuase he dosen't like fallowing kids,and he decides to play with whoever he wants,he dosen't fallow the little trends the others kids have,he prefers coloring than playing sports..why is that being indepedent when your a child is a bad thing,but when your a young adult its a thing of to be proud of..i don't understand this..i dont know..maybe this dosen't make sense..i just hate psychitirist(sic? or misspelling)..they always seem to have an answer for whats your thinking about its..kinda of scary.

sounds like the poor lamb is suffering from an acute case of being an only child to me, or at the very least is suffering from a nasty case of individualism.

i'd have the tyke lobotomized ASAP.

The child could simply be shy...or as you (and Dex) have said, an individual soul who's drawn more right now towards activities which engage different aspects of himself that group activities do not.

When I was growing up, my family (bless their heart) kept trying to convince me that my time spent alone and reading or drawing or "whatever" was not really what I wanted to do, not who I really wanted to be...I ended up hiding away the person I felt I was, growing tired of feeling like I had to defend my desires, actions, feelings...

I hope your cousin's issues are simply ones like the ones I described...and that his (or her) parents become aware of it..

I agree with pretty much everything everyone's said.
However, I have a hard time believing a school would recommend therapy for a child who was simply a bit of an individual. I would want to know if there's more to it than that. Children spend so much of their time at school and teachers are very invested in each child's development, it would be silly to just shrug off a teacher's serious concern without careful examination. Not to say teachers are infallible. I guess I'd just want to know more.
