on my way to work tonight, i left my portable DVD player on the bus, along with three netflix discs. i'll probably never see any of that stuff ever again, although there are several slim-chance scenarios i can think of in which i may be reunited with my stuff.

i was a little panicked when i got to work and i realized i left this stuff behind on the bus, but really, you know what, i'm just tired. i rarely use my portable DVD player, so it's not a hugely tragic loss. it sucks, but i'll survive. if i'd lost any of my rare concert DVDs, i'd probably be pitching a monumental fit, but thankfully it's just netflix stuff. they don't charge for lost DVDs unless ya make a habit of losing their discs.

i dunno. should i be spazzing out? it's only stuff.

Contact the transit people, tell them what bus you were on and what time.

Hopefully there was an honest person that turned them in to the bus driver.

You know, I once left my copy of Mika Waltari's The Roman on my school bus, 9305 that was, back in my senior year of high school. This was the last day before Xmas breaks, so naturally, I wouldn't be seeing it again for a month.

I obsessed over it all through first block, and I finally walked out of English IV and down to the office, found a phone book, and phoned the bus garage. After pitching a good fit, I got them to deliver my book to the high school.

I can't imagine what I'd do if I left something of more value than that book behind somewhere, and there was little to no chance of ever seeing it again.

well, the discs are no problem, really. netflix is pretty mellow about lost discs unless it becomes a pattern, then they make ya pay for what you lose.

the DVD player kinda sucks to lose. it was a gift from my mom, and even though i don't use it often, i like taking it on trips and it's been helpful during these graveyard shifts i've had to work at my job recently.

fortunately, the reason i forgot it was because i was rushed off the bus early because i was the only person left on the bus and they wanted to transfer me to another bus on the same route. maybe that means the bus driver was taking a break or ending her shift, which could bode well for me.

OR, someone might get on the bus, find the dvd player in its carrying pouch, and report it to the driver thinking it could be some kind of terrorist thingie. if they didn't smash it to bits with a baseball bat or make a german shepard eat it, maybe it would be taken to a police station or something and x-rayed, and they'd find my netflix envelope with my name and address on it.

so it's POSSIBLE i'll see it again. maybe. probably not. but perhaps.

it's not the end of the world if i don't, but it would be really nice if i did. i knew with these crazy hours i've been working, it was only a matter of time before i did something scatterbrained and stupid. if this is the worst i do, i'm doing okay.

I really like my portable DVD player.. and I think I would probably be upset that I lost it.. But not lose sleep over it..
