you know, I'm honestly surprised at how much I ENJOYED this film. Maybe it was just a nice contrast to the darkness of Batman and War of the Worlds (the last 2 films I saw) but I thought FF was good FUN. It didn't take itself seriously, the cast was good and the film had a lot of laughs (some not intentional, but whatevs). I think for me, the lightness of the film made it possible for me to forgive the glaring plot-holes. As opposed to W.O.T.W. which took itself so seriously that a few poorly handled plot points ruined the movie for me... This is why I'm not going to see F4. The suits at Marvel took the original script(which was closer to the comics) and turned it into a comedy. And changing Dr. Doom from a Eastern European dictator to an evil Donald Trump is really stupid. I'll pass. This is what happens when you have the wrong people working on superhero movies. Tim Story is no Sam Raimi or Bryan Singer. Well, it wasn't the suits at Marvel, but rather the suits at Fox. Actually, the original script was pretty stupid, and had a LOT less to do with the comic than the finished product. It isn't a comedy, but it has a fair dose of it. This is actually quite in line with the comic. Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm's verbal sparring, and Johnny making wise-ass comments are a staple of the book, going back to the Lee/kirby days. As for Doom, I agree. He is just a re-hash of The Green Goblin, and that's a shame. Doom is one of the best villians in comic history, and he really gets the short end of the stick in this film. Fortunately, they did set it up for him to become the Lataverian dictator in a sequel [Edited 7/13/05 7:14am]
