Eye for an eye? As some of you might know, I started working in a news agency, mainly recording and editing intrviews.
Well, today we had an interview by telephone, which was about a story that sounds like something from the bible. It seems that about 12 years ago, a 16 year old Iranian, has accidentally (so the story goes) splashed/spilled acid on his friend's face and caused him to lose his eye sight. Since some courts are ruling by the rules of the Koran, which says Eye for an eye (how apporpriate ) the ruling was to splash acid on his face. Well, the boy's lawyer said that if they do that, they might damadge other parts of his face, and so they changed the rules to surgically remove his eyes The boy seems to have disappeared somewhere in Iran, but I think they are looking for him now to put the sentence to action. Some groups are trying to stop this, and some countries are sending their request for mercy on the boy, well man today. When will these barbaric actions end?

How can one judge another's culture? It doesn't look like culture to me. It looks nothing but a barbaric act that belongs 3,000+ years ago.
