The meaning of life ....
Think of someone you know that seems pretty happy about life. How would you describe their attitude? Are they kidding themselves? Are they ignoring the ugly truth about life that's right in front of their eyes and pretending that some happy fantasy world that exists only in their heads is real? Well, guess what. That is exactly how every happy person in the world acts. And the really strange thing is that it's OK. Because the reason that you are unhappy is that you have constructed a fantasy world just as complete and just as removed from the "facts" as the Pollyanna imaginings that you so despise in those happy people. neutral

Well...to comtemplate the meaning of life, I think you first have to define 'life' and 'meaning', or your own personal perceptions of those two words.
Becasue our reasoning originates from a human minset, our thoughts, notions and beliefs are selfish to our own existence and rationale of that what we term 'existence' or 'life'.
So, personally, I think the question is a bit silly. No-one had all the pieces fo the puzzle, and anyone who says they do are liars - both to themselves and to the ears of their audience.

Is love just a finely tuned jealousy or can two people really allow themselves to be so vulnerable and unguarded and naked to each other that they can, in a sense, cross over and become one?

in rare and lucky instances, the latter. but for the most part the former is what passes for love these days. also, it's possible to mistake narcsissism for love if we use our lover as mirror to ourselves. .. ..

so sex it is then nod and food and reality TV.

Very interesting, Watson. smile I just remember the Morrisey line 'Why pamper life's complexities when the leather runs smooth on the passenger seat?' For me, love and sex and intertwined in some double helix of joy and the the true nature of the creator. I don't fuck about. Sex is cheap these days, it's been packaged and sold, and our generation are the spectators of the death of the sweetheart.
