Detroit 91
San Antonio 84

The game will be physical in the early going, and San Antonio is versatile, but soft, and Billups will take over.

Yeah Russell has more rings and Wilt has more size, but Olajuwon was the total package. Inside and outside threat. Clutch free throw shooter. Best skills of any center with his back to the goal. Incredible defender. Better than Shaq, Robinson, Ewing, and Kareem on both ends of the court. Name one better and I'll show you where your wrong.

You can definitely make a case for Olajuwon. He was just a joy to watch. I loved watching the Rockets during that Championship winning era. Nice to see Horry still playing such amazing all round basketball. If there were a sixth-man MVP Horry would win it hands down. If not purely based on numbers his contribution could be seen as a series-winning MVP-like one.

Well we will see. I put a lot of stock in Phil and Kobe's ability. I give Kobe a pass for last season with the shoulder injury, bad ankle sprain, rape case, karl malone hitting on his wife, and everyone complaining about him breaking up the Lakers and all. If Lamar Odom and Kobe could be the next MJ and Pippen if Odom plays his position and Kobe stops relying on his jumper so much. I really believe they have an outside chance. Kobe in the playoffs is something special to see, he never quits.

Kobe did break up the Lakers.

For all his brilliance, last year, Kobe never quit in the playoffs. His refusal to quit shooting and feed the ball to Shaq cost the Lakers the title.

I see the Jackson rehiring as a bid to reestablish the credibility of the franchise. They put it in the hands of a spoiled egomaniac who didn't know his place. Now a grownup has returned to save the franchise from itself.

If you are talking about the Rockets, I'm with you. Tracy is an incredible talent, I had no idea he was such a good shooter. But Yao is the rate limiting step with the Rockets.

The Lakers are going to surprise a lot of people. Pippen has agreed to sign on as an assistant coach to help mold Odom's game. If they can manage a trade and get a guy like an Antonio Mcdyess, they will have a great chance to make it into the post season.

I won't be the least bit surprised if the Lakers make it to the playoffs. But the results will be no different than the mid-90's days of the Lake Show. Good enough to compete, not good enough to make it past San Antonio.

True indeed, but they escaped. That doesn't diminish their accomplishment. They beat a champion to become champions, just like they did in 2003.
