Losing a part of your life Who's Johnny?
A kid I met through my best friend Curtis in the early 90s He was a transplant from the midwest. A young man leaving his life behind to seek the dreams only California can fulfill..... In the beginning he and I kinda worked each others nerves. Early on we had several scratch fests and it was definitely an oil and water mix as far as our personalities were concerned. Over time I learned, and I think he did too, to temper any differences for the better goal of getting along for our other friends sake. Over the years our differences came to a low simmer. He was a fantastic artist. I loved his work and complimented him on it whenever I saw his art. He was amazingly ambitious and had the ego of a king. He was pretty fearless as to what people thought of him and that I loved about him. He had this little act I call "Who's Johnny?" That is how he referred to himself He passed away one week ago in an accident I can't help but think how this marks my friends. Who's Johnny was a staple at parties, gatherings, hang outs.....in our life. And now he's gone. A piece of life lost. I just felt like I needed to acknowledge Who's Johnny. Rest in peace buddy

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and love.
I hadn't stopped to consider how important it is to acknowledge those that you aren't very close to. OK, this is not quite what I meant. I do have consideration for others, even strangers but I guess I meant I hadn't stopped to consider the magnitude of acknowledgement. Despite any differences he and I had, and they really weren't major, I'm glad that I did acknowledge his work. We need to appreciate those around us because everyone makes a difference. . The way you write about your personal thoughts and the people that create such emotion, blows me away... in a beautiful way.
Richard. I can't wait to see you in California. Let's get drunk. Ok!

My best friend Curtis was with Johnny when he died. He's taking it hard but he's said that we are all growing as a result of this loss and he's right.
He's said that in several weeks we are going to have a "Who's Johnny" party So far in life I have been spared the loss of loved ones. I realize that I need to brace myself for the inevitable. I will eventually lose those I love, we all do. It's about living life to the fullest and loving with all your might. Again, thank you everyone for your love 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740
