I just seen the trailers.
It had Dakota Fanning in it. At the moment she is my fave actress. She was the best in Taken. She played Denzel under the table.

She's a pro, which is good since that movie really needed us to care about her character - otherwise Denzel's character's actions would come across as being over the top (which they kind of did anyway )

I do not understand people raving about Denzel. I think he is just a mediocre actor, always playing another version of his own persona, which I think is boring.

I take it you don't agree with my over-the-top comment? I just thought he went into cruel, cold killer mode a bit too much. He became The Terminator after having been just a person. Even though we can understand his hatred, it doesn't quite explain that type of behaviour. I would have expected rage instead of clinical methodology in the killings. I do not understand people raving about Denzel. I think he is just a mediocre actor, always playing another version of his own persona, which I think is boring.
I think people appreciate him the same way they appreciate Robert De Niro or Gene Hackman. They are strong personas with a commanding charisma. That's what make us care in their case, not the kind of amazing chameleon-like acting Sean Penn can deliver.

Actually, my ERMMM was directed at the overly killing thing Denzel did. Not at your remark, which I totally agree with.
