Why on God's green Earth do I like Xanadu? I just watched this piece of shit movie for the 1st time since about 1981...and I loved it. It was so cheesy and just plain horrible. But I was singin along with the tunes (I'm Alive!!), droolin over Oliva (in the little tiger mini skirt rockin out at the end), and getting all nostalgic. Why do I like this piece of crap?

Oh I fucking love this movie! I was living in Okinawan, Japan and had it on Bata-Max in 1980. I was in 1st grade and we'd watch it over and over and over... then go outside and roller skate! I'd pretend I was outlined in blue! I've got it on DVD now and I still love it, just don't watch it over and over and over anymore!
These glamorous movie-stars hairstyles for you to re-create are worn by Olivia Newton-John in Xanadu, a film that features costumes and hairdos from the forties and eighties. 1. Hair is set, then combed into a coronet and pinned in place. Bangs and rest of hair tumble in loose waves. 2. Blown dry and fluffed to make it light and feathery, hair is then simply allowed to fall loose. 3. Large rollers are used to achieve wide, loose waves and wrispy bangs. 4. A roller set on the ends plus side combs create a forties pin-up-girl look. 5. Hair is blown dry, then set on large rollers to get a relaxed curl. Small side combs hold hair back; narrow ribbons are a young, appealing touch. 6. Medium rollers add curl and bounce to Olivia's long silky hair. 7. First, hair is brushed to one side; then it's set on large rollers to create a young evening hairdo. 8. 8 roller set to start; then a sleek comb-out creates a high pompadour and long loose pageboy that's much less rigid than those of the forties. Hairdos by Martin Samuel, Los Angeles Woman's Day 9/2/80

I saw Olivia on a chat show last week, i've a lot of admiration for her after what she's been through. Best thing is, she's still superhot!

I saw Olivia Newton-John perform Xanadu live just two weeks ago. It was in the Once Upon A Time... show at Parken, Copenhagen, in celebration of the 200th birthday of Danish fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen. I guess Olivia chose to sing Xanadu because it's from a fairytale story, too. Tina Turner performed too, but I missed seeing her. I was working that day, see. PR business. You meet a lot of celebrities. I missed Tina Turner because I was called to the VIP area for a briefing as we had to get all the VIPs out of Parken and into their transportations. I held the door open for the entire Danish Royal Family. But seeing Olivia was great. She's still very beautiful after all these years. I was standing in the press pool when she arrived and all the photographers commented on how beautiful she is. And seeing her perform live was just great. Physical is one of my all-time favorite albums. I never cared much for Xanadu, but just seeing her live after all these years - even if only for one song - was just highclass, baby.
