what do you keep from your past? I am a bit of a pack rat. I have all the letters friends sent, the breakup letters of old boyfriends, the "I should have stayed" letters from others, pictures, cards...
what do you hang on to, whether you should or not?

Don't have anything of old gf's anymore. Only a few letters and pics from my ex wife. High school year book, that's all I guess.

I'm a pack rat myself...I have trouble throwing anything that might someday be considered a possible item of sentimental value. This is why I'm a slob.

I hate to throw anyhting away. I have a lot of letters, postcards etc.
It's funny, with email and the internet, I no longer have any letters to save! lol

i keep everything (and by everything, i mean there's many boxes of old letters & such under my bed ) but stuff associated with bad ex-boyfriends. i tear up those pictures & letters and flush them down!
i also save my notebooks from when i was in junior high & high school, because they've got more poems and doodles in them than actual notes from class.

I've kept every book I'd read when I was little, letters from friends/booyfriends and tickets/get out of jail slips, a certain folder I had made in high school, etc.
I don't keep things anymore, well, it's rare that I do, unless it's something from my children, those items I collect. I do save quite a bit of their things that they enjoy now, favorite items of clothing, "firsts", notes, etc., and store them in cases for when they grow older.

OK, here goes, I still have my Lambie, a stuffed animal I clung to as a child. I cannot get rid of it. It is shapped like a real lamb, and I have had to "re-stuff" his neck several times in the past because that is where I used to carry it around.
If there is a fire, I will save my children first, but then I am going back in for him.... "Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures." - Henry Ward Beecher

I was thinking of that song too....the only thing I keep is a few old letters. ...letters littered with little lewd pictures drawn by the ghost of woody guthrie who would use your big thick hand just to draw one two for me and i think of your letters as love letters which is how i think of songs in that it is the writing of them that tends to carry us along...
